WFMW ~ Sandy Solution

March 28, 2007

Now that Baby Bug is old enough to go to the beach, trying to get sand off both girls’ feet can be frustrating. To makes things a little easier, I sprinkle them (the feet, not the girls) with baby powder when it’s time to clean up. This makes the sand brush off easily - and they smell great, too!

Great tip - it’s getting to be beach season here too (Israel) and getting those little feet clean can be a real pain!

We use powder but also keep a gallon of water in the trunk to pour over our feet after the walk back from the beach. Then the powder gets off the rest.

I learned this trick from a friend years ago, and I’ll second that it really works!

Oooo, great idea!! We always do the water rinse in the parking lot, they have little shower things by the beaches here, but this sounds great too!

Great tip. I’ll try this next time we visit a beach. I always receive baby powder from the hospital or friends when I have a new baby and I don’t use it on their bums. Now I’ll save it!

Thanks for the tip, im going to try this this summer. How does she like the sand? I will never forget the reactions of my kids the first time in the sand..DD#2 was terrified to put her feet in the sand, but quickly got over it once she realized it was fun, and my son…absolutely loved it, he never wanted to get out of it.

I’ve never heard of that one. I’ll have to try it this year. Thanks!

Thanks so much for the idea! I’m trying to talk hubby into going over to San Diego or Huntington beach next week during spring break. This just might save me from extra vacuuming in the car :)

Thanks for the tip! I’ll try it this summer. You have, however, given me an overwhelming salt-water and sand craving! I’m ready to go NOW!!! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the reminder. I forgot to take the baby powder with us on vacation last year. I need to add it to my list this year.

I do the same thing after haircuts but didn’t think about it for the beach! Great share. I’ll be adding baby powder to the list for the summer’s trip to the shore!

Hugs,
Holly

I’ll have to try that sometime…don’t know when we’ll see any sand as the Gulf of Colorado is so far away. ;)

I’ve never heard of that either, we don’t make it to the beach often, seeing as Idaho is pretty landlocked. However next time we’re there I’ll bring the baby powder along, that’s a nifty trick.

i cut my son and my husbands hair. before I cut their hair I cover their shoulders and neck with powder, it helps the hair come off easier afterwards.

wish I had a problem with sand……. oh yes sand and blue water please

Thanks so much for the tip! My best friend is throwing a “Daisies & Dirt” party for her girl/boy twins, and is bringing in a load full of sand for all the kids at the party to play in. I have a feeling this tip will come in very handy!

Living so close to the beach when we were growing up. Every day during the summer we were always there. My mom carried a large container of baby powder in her car. An added benefit, it helped take the salty sea smell out of the car.

What a great tip! I could use if for trips to the sandbox and the park as well as the beach. And the added bonus of the haircut tips from the commentors is awesome. J always gets upset about his itchy neck after a haircut.

Wow…I’ve never heard this before. It makes sense though. Thanks. I live in Florida and go to the beach often so this will be a great help.

Have a tip on how to remember the baby powder? I know that trick and every time I am at the beach I say “I SHOULD have brought some baby powder!”

:)

I know i’ve been away quite a while… I’ve been really busy… at work. I didn’t get to do my regular visiting… This is a great idea. I will be going home for the summer holidays in May and going to the beach is a daily affair - so I will need to this tip for my duo. (I am from Goa - and we live 3 - 5 minutes away from the beach)
