Photo Assignment: My Favorite Ornament

I think that ornaments say a lot about a person. After all, there are tons and tons to choose from so whichever you select to display on your tree, it must have some sort of significance, right?

As for us, I think I mentioned before that during every holiday season, we all go to the store and everyone gets to pick a new ornament for the tree. Here are this year’s selections:

Baby Bug’s because she loves Elmo. Plus, it’s one of the few words she can actually say.

Girlie Girl’s because she loves pink. Wonder where she got that from?

DH’s because he’s an ice cream fanatic. Plus, it kind of looks like him since he hasn’t been surfing much lately.

and mine because I really want a “frosted candy” themed tree. I’ve been trying to find frosted candy garlands but all the online stores won’t ship to Hawaii. Boo!

This year we have an extra special addition from Sher’s Wares & Everything Mom! She was one of my partners for the 2007 Ornament Exchange. Isn’t it super cool? Thank you Sherry!

Here’s the finished product. Notice how the bottom of the tree is pretty bare? For some reason, my ornaments keep disappearing and I can’t seem to find them.

Now I have a photo assignment for you. Post a picture of your favorite ornament and the special meaning behind it. Then leave your link below so everyone can stop by and visit.

I have several cross-stitch ornaments on my tree. I love anything hand made. The one I chose to reproduce in my Holiday Banner was from a sweet, dear friend in Germany. So, it isn’t in the post so much as it is right on the banner, on display every day for the month of December.

I love ornaments – they are just the best. This year I found it so hard to relinquish control of the tree decorating, but I did it and my kids loved being involved.

Love the “frosted tree” idea. How cute would that be?

I participated in an online Christmas “tour of homes” yesterday, but since my decorations are sparse this year, most of my post was about my ornaments. So I’m going to link to that.

Beautiful tree, lovely ornaments! I love when they have a special meaning behind them. I actually participated in the did a Christmas Tour of Homes on my other blog – http://mamadoggylove.wordpress.com – where I happened to include my favorite ornament! It’s the silver bell ornament that my husband and I gave as favors at our wedding!

I love your frosted house. It’s very nice. The bottom of my tree is bare, too, but it’s because we don’t trust our puppy not to chew our ornaments! That’s also the reason I haven’t put any presents under there yet. I may have to put them out on Christmas Eve this year.

I have too many special ornaments. When DH & I got our first wedding gifts some were boxes of ornaments from his hometown’s Christmas Store. All of them are special to us and then each year I go in search of my new rabbit ornaments…and I just love it when I get a new one from a friend or family. My BIL brought me one from Thailand!
I can’t pick just one. LOL!

Both your tree and ornaments are beautiful, Kailani!

I especially like GG’s pink one, and your frosted candy house.

You know, funny you should mention it, but I’m finding my ornaments have been mysteriously vanishing from the bottom of my tree too. It must be the work of some very adorable elves we know. *wink*

I love it! I remember how special it was a kid to hang “our” ornament each year. Each of us had a gold angel with our names engraved on it for the year we joined the family. I love the old ornaments and the new ones the kids make every year. :)

I have always been a tech geek and have been searching for a cool way to display all my digital photos that are now currently stuck on my computer. I know there are digital picture frames that you can use all year, but, I was looking for a way to display them during the holidays, especially Christmas. I could only find one kind of digital photo ornament on the market and they only came in 3 colors and were round, kind of boring. Then the other day I came across a brand new digital photo ornament that is not even available yet, but the company is taking pre-orders and will start shipping in June ’08. The digital photo ornaments are amazing and come in all shapes and sizes and they have free shipping. Every ornament also comes with a free digital picture frame to use year round. You just take out the LCD from the back of the ornament and insert into the frame, pretty cool idea! Go check them out http://www.thedigitalgiftshop.com
