Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.
In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.
If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link below. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!
My question is:
If you could start your blog all over again, what would you do differently?

I’m not sure that I would do much of anything differently. I have enjoyed the way my blog has evolved and the things I have learned (and continue to learn).
That is a great question. I have been blogging for a couple of years and I have enjoyed it more as a journal for myself and for our families to keep up with our lives. But I would and do want to get my own header, and possibly redo the blog outline. So that is something I have to work on… Have a great Friday!
I am such a new blogger, I really can’t say at this point. I am sure as I go a long I will see things I like, and wish I had done differently.
I am not sure! I guess there is a lot I wish I knew when I started but I am still learning all the time!
I think if anything I would have blogged more consistently. I started my blog as an extension of my jewelry and accessories business, then it evolved into sort of an Etsy showcase, and now it’s more of a mom blog. Who knows what it will be a year from now!
I am still prety new to it, so it is hard to say. I wouldn’t have said my son’s name at first I guess. Now i don’t use it because I don’t like the idea of some weirdo out there knowing his name and what he looks like.
I think I would have picked a focus…but I seem to have a diverse group of readers who enjoy my random posts!
I have been blogging for just over two years now. I honestly would not change too much. It has been fun figuring out my style and pacing things over the time.
I don’t think I would change anything. I have loved it for the little while I have been doing it! Glad I found your blog, I love it!
I would have probably not done much different. I’m pretty happy about my focus.
Nothing I guess. I think I do okay.
Very good question.. I would probably try and be more organized.. and think a head. Perhaps I would not GAIN WEIGHT back so that I would have to report negative numbers on my blog LOL
I’d shorten my url (s)
I would cange the name and I would have picked a focal point.
I think I would have kept my 2 blogs separate. It gets confusing when I want to catch up with everyone during the week and all the blogs I follow are all together If only I could dress or tag them like garanimals! life would be so much easier(I just follow too many darn blogs)But i shall get organized and I do love blogging and have met so many wonderful people!
I don’t know that I’d do anything differently. I mean, naming it a Day with Jake means that it’ll usually always be blue, but that’s okay with me. I don’t always have to be feminine!
Hmm, I think I would probably have picked a more creative name if I’d realized that I was going to still be blogging almost two years later!
Otherwise, I don’t really think I’d change anything – I’m pretty happy with where my blog is at and what my purpose for it is.
I would want to start with a better design.
I think I would have done a few things differently. One is that I would have liked to enter the review/contest arena sooner.
I would have thought up a creative name when I began. I still haven’t thought of one yet, but it might be a pain to change it now since I don’t want to change my blog.
I would probably not share my kids’ names. I don’t worry about it too much but better to have been safe than sorry.
I probably wouldn’t have named it Daily Mish Mash because now I feel compelled to write a post just about every day.
I think I’d change the name!!
I would have choosen a 3-column layout!
good question. i don’t think i would do anything different. my purpose has always been to record my thoughts and my life for the generations that follow me.
I would have chosen a more creative name for my blog.
Here’s mine:

Great question……..the only things I would change would be from a technology standpoint. I was so clueless in that area when I started blogging.
Wow! Umm…. I think I would have spent more tme and written more. I was very sporatic with it when I started.
I would have tried writing every day and stick to one theme.
I really don’t know but I think I would take time to learn more about blogging.
I would have learned about Meme’s Sooner, lol
Hard to say! I keep changing it up all the time! That’s the great thing about blogs and technology—if you don’t like it, change it! When you learn or see something new that’s really neat, incorporate it! I’d definitely say blogging is a work in progress and I thank all the other bloggers out there who I’m learning from, including you, Kailini!!!
I honestly think I would try to learn the art of blogging quicker. I have so much to learn but I impatiently wish I knew it NOW.
I change things as I go…so nothing pressing at the moment. I only started in November so it’s pretty new.
hahahah! I DID just start my blog over again! We moved last summer and I stopped blogging for about six months, when I came back I decided to start fresh.
The main thing I did differently was that I decided I wanted to keep my posts about bargain hunting/couponing/grocery shopping separate from my main blog where I post about life/food/crafts. So, I created two blogs to cover these two different themes.
I also decided that this time around I wanted my blogs to be brighter and happier!
I don’t think that I would do anything differently. I have learned a lot along the way and it’s been fun.
I think I would have blogged more seriously and consistently from the start. As it is, I started my first blog almost two years ago, but things only started to take off about six months ago, which is when I really started to make an effort.
I hate to say it, but I would have only shared my journey with specific people to spare myself the gossip. Ah, retrospect…
I did start all over but not sure I did anything different
I would never have used our real names in my blog.
If I had it to do all over I would probably put more thought into the name…I have already had to change it once due to the traffic I was receiving from search engines that were for all the wrong reasons…other than that I am pretty happy with it.
I would have started with Blogger instead of Xanga – even though “Xanga” is funner to say!
I want to say that I wouldn’t tell friends and family about my blog because I am limited in what I can say, lol, but really, I am glad I can’t, who wants to hear that?
I would like to move my reviews, and I even made a site to do that, but it just didn’t happen. I want to be fair in getting my reviews to the amount of viewers I have since that is what draws sponsors, but I don’t know how to make that switch.
I might of have made a better plan of attack about what I would post about and when. Good questions.
First I think I would have come up with a less boring name for my blog…
Secondly, I think I would have posted more consistently – I started off only doing scattered posts, then just Mon/Wed/Fri, and it wasn’t until I started posting daily and joining some meme’s and groups that I started to finally have people coming to check out my blog…all my visitors and readers make it so much fun!
I would give it a different name. I don’t like the title I used.
i had trouble coming up with a good name. i’ve renamed it twice and i still can’t come up with something better. but, if i had to redo anything, that’d probably be it.
Funny you should ask that! As we speak, my gal is designing a new header for me with a bucnh of grpahics & color swwatches etc that I gave her ~ Even though I haven’t really blogged all that long, I’ve always felt I needed something as header that made more of a statement – so, keep your fingers crossed!
P.S. Oops – sorry – forgot to check spelling on that comment I just posted!
I have been blogging since 2006 to encourage moms as they raise up their little people. I would not change anything about the content but I think I would have hired a professional to design the blog and brand it. I think that would have made things easier and I could have spent more time writing and less time trying to figure out the techno part of it. Thanks for hosting a fun carnival. Blessings.
When we started, I knew nothing about blogging, websites, domains, html. We just jumped right in with our own domain and have been learning as we go. I think I would have done some more research before we started.
Hi Kailani!
I DID start my blog over! And I’m much happier with what I’m doing now – less fluff, more nitty gritty. *grin*
I’m really trying to focus more on writing, and presenting posts with some substance – something useful and informative. I’m much happier since I started over.
Wow nothing is coming to mind. I don’t think I did anything that I regret doing at this stage and the evolution has possibly been the best part.
Maybe I’ll feel differently after I’ve been blogging longer, who knows?
I’ve only been blogging a few months, and I kind of eased into it, not knowing if I’d even would share it beyond immediate friends and family. But as a freelance writer, I love the structure it gives me, and it’s a great outlet to write what I want to write. If I were to go back, I would have had a bit more of a plan as far as look and content. Oh, also, I would have planned for, and maybe prevented my house from being so messy!
Not certain what I would change. I have enjoyed the learning process although I think sometimes that I am behind the curve but that’s all part of it. I would love right now though to pay someone to design a couple of headers for me but I just don’t want to spend the money! lol
I haven’t been blogging long, so at this point nothing comes to mind that I’d do differently.
Have a great weekend!
I think I would have gotten a domain name first instead of rerouting it. Other than that I’m pretty happy.
Hm, good question but probably not. I just jumped right in and then before long I found a somewhat of a theme. And I prefer blogs with more of a theme…so I’m glad how everything worked out & wouldn’t changed a thing! ^_^
I think I would have gone full force sooner. I started blogging about 2 years ago but I only got super involved in the last few months.
Well, I started not too long ago with my blog. But, I think I would have prepared more. Tried to figure out what I was trying to accomplish and what direction I wanted to take my blog in. I think having a clear vision from the beginning is so important.
I would have been a dot com for the start instead of blogspot.com!
Hmm not sure. It’s been such a learning process and I wouldn’t want to miss out on that. Maybe get a domain first.
I would probably have gotten my own domain name first. I just got a blog makeover and LOVE the new design (so I would really recommend having someone help you if you can!!)
Good question Kailani! I am not really sure because the only real reason I would have changed anything(getting more gung ho into blogging as a business sooner) would not have been possible and the path that I took to get here(my daughter’s adoption wait) is how I learned a lot of what I know now……does that make any sense at all:)
I think that since I have learned so much from the way I have done things, I would not go back and change a thing.
However, I have to strive harder to always back up my work as I go. I just lost my whole Aloha Friday post ’somehow’ and Blogger automatically updated before I could exit and come back!
So I had to rewrite (for me that means lots of changes to my original stuff) and repost.
I am not sure if this was human or computer error. But I do know that Backing Up is critical in today’s world on the web.
Come answer my question about Airplanes.
Thanks for hosting,
Sharinskishe
When I first started I had no idea what I was doing. A fellow blogger saw my blog after she became my friend on The Mom Blogger Club and kindly “suggested” I use her services to renovate my blog. I am so thankful that Diana at “Diana Rambles” made the offer! My blog has been beautiful ever since!
I would not have so many different pages and I would have developed a longer blogroll.
have a weekly schedule of posts
I think get a domain name from the get-go. I switched my domain name and then there was some confusion for a few days until the dust settled.
Thanks for visiting me, I can’t believe I forgot to answer your question. I would use Word Press from the beginning. My husband is working on moving me over and it’s difficult because I don’t want to lose anything, permalinks, posts, widgets, ahh the stress
I don’t know that I would do anything different. I am really happy with the way my blog has progressed and the number of followers that has grown. I love blogging
I would .com myself.
I think I would have liked to have a more creative name. I’d also get someone to help me design a logo or button. Maybe, have more of a specific focus than a rambling family blog.
