Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.
In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.
If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link below. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!
Today’s question is:
Do you focus more on the past, present, or future?

Focus?
5:05 pm
I would have to say with little kids that I focus on the present while wondering about the past and worrying about the future…How’s that for an answer?
6:06 pm
Hmm, I try to stay focused on the present, but I tend to worry too much about the future. I’m one of those people that needs to have something to look forward to so I think that creates a bit of a future focus.

I guess I would have to say future as our goal is to be 100% debt free (house paid off) next year!

While I’d love to be able to tell you that I focus mainly on the present, that would not be true. I tend to do a lot of anticipating and planning for the future. I wouldn’t really call it worrying, but just looking forward to things. I think that is why time seems to go so fast.
6:56 pm
definitely present. i’ve never been one to look back - too many regrets and you can’t change it. and i’m not goal oriented or one that makes plans or worries, so don’t i don’t look to the future much. i probably should tho.
have a great weekend.

I think my answer would probably be closest to Chris’ (Dad of Divas). I do focus most on the present - but worry about the future as well.
7:08 pm
i really don’t focus too much of the past, but i’m torn between the present and the future…
7:13 pm
The future for sure!
7:22 pm
My family tends to always be financially burdened so I would have to say I focus more on the present.
7:25 pm
It’s all about momentum and forward movement. There’s no point in looking backwards . . . and the present is comprised of “To Do” lists. So my eye is always on tomorrow’s box on the calendar.
8:15 pm
I focus more at the present. I like to take things one day at a time.
11:56 pm
I tend to live in the present while using the past to help plan the future. My parents, I think, tended to dwell too much in the past, but they were always looking to the future. To me, all three intricately combined and inseparable.
12:33 am
I attempt to stay focused on the present, however worries about the future often get the better of me.
1:05 am
The future! I try hard not to focus too much on the past…which is not always easy!

I guess I’m pretty future-focused. I’m always looking forward to what might happen just around the corner, or worrying what could happen years from now.
1:41 am
I focus on the present. The past is gone and I cannot change it. The future depends on the present.
1:53 am
I try to focus only on the present. If I think I about the future, I start to get to anxious & can have panic attacks.
If I think to much on the past, then I feel guilty for not doing certain things better.
2:02 am
Mostly I focus on the present - there is nothing like today! However, I have such great memories in the past and my mind tends to wander back to them from time to time.

2:21 am
Present, here and now maybe a week in the future but for the most part its the here and now lol
2:46 am
I focus on the near future ie: what will happen if I don’t get everything done. I am making an effort to focus more on the present and stop worrying so much so that I can enjoy my life and my kids more. Be Here Now. It is not easy
3:10 am
Present > Future > Past
No sense dwelling over the past. What’s done is done. The future is what we make it. The present is what’s most important.
3:16 am
Probably the future. I try to focus more on the present, but past and future have a tendency to take over my thoughts.
3:32 am
I try to keep it balanced. I focus on the past to learn from my mistakes. I focus on the present to keep things in order. And I focus on the future so that I can see where I’m headed.
3:33 am
Definitely the future. In fact, I’m so focused on the future I tend to forget the present. And I blog to remember the past.
It’s sad, actually.
4:01 am
I try to focus on the present as much as possible. I have future ambitions but the present is the only place worth being since my little boy came into my life.
4:13 am
Definitely the present but I’ll occasionally daydream about the future.
4:21 am
Tough question with so many facets - either present or future - can’t do much about the past.
4:35 am
I think I tend to worry about things I have done in the past a bit. I tend to stay awake at night thinking about the future and the next few days. I tend to just float through the now.
6:29 am
Geez I can’t focus on anything! But I’m definitely living in the present!
6:46 am
I try to focus on the present and future, but I think I focus more on the past, and I know I shouldn’t…
6:53 am
Since the present flies by too fast, sometimes it can be a blur, and I used to focus on the past, until Josh got sick, my focus is mostly on the future. Thinking what tomorrow may bring, and just making plans, that sometimes work out, but most of the time they don’t always go the way I would like them too.
7:28 am
all 3 at different times.
8:35 am
Probably More Present, but a little of all three. Being a Mother, most days I am just trying to make it until my husband comes home lol. When I have time to think, I think of the future and then glance to the Past. The Future is so unknown and unsettled these days with the world I find myself often dwelling more on now..and perhaps as far as next week.
9:03 am
I try to focus on the present. but sometimes get caught up on the future.
9:44 am
I focus most on the present. Can’t change the past, and some times the future seems so out of reach, so I will live for the moment!
Great question!
10:40 am
Definitely the future. I am always looking forward to the next step in life. I need to keep reminding myself to enjoy the moment.
5:13 pm
That’s pretty tough… a little of all three i guess… I cherish the past, enjoy the present, and plan for the future..
before kids, i looked to the future ALOT… but now with the girls (especially since they’re only 10 months old) I HAVE to focus more on the present… not enough time in the day to worry about the past or think about the future…lol..
5:26 pm
I focus ONLY on the present. Sure, I consider the past so I dont make mistakes and prepare for the future, but i live in the moment.

5:31 pm
That’s a toughie…I love my life, but I have fun reminiscing about good times, and I excitedly anticipate what the future holds…
4:35 am
I focus much on the present because I know days go by very fast and before I know it, I’ll be facing the mirror crying at the sight of my wrinkles and grey hair!
2:51 pm
I dunno, that’s a question to think about. I guess in the past year we have focused on the past more than usual, because we had a falling out with family and it has been hard. But its almost been a year since then, so I want to try and look forward and realise how the experience has changed us for the better in many ways. We really should focus on the present more, and all we should be thnkful for. And we often think of the future, usually in times of stress, worrying about money and such, but I think everyone does that…
4:13 pm
I try to work on letting go of the past, but am not always successful. And I worry too much about the future. I guess I really need to try to enjoy the NOW more!
5:20 am
There was a time where I focused way too much time in the past. The past year or so I’ve been trying to change that and have been doing a pretty good job of it. I try to focus most of my time in the present, but having 3 kids, some of my time has to be focused in the future too. I just try not to dwell on the future and live in the moment.
(I'll take good care of it.)
