My Favorite Baby Items

After my recent post, I decided that I better get my butt in gear and start shopping for our newest addition. Since this is our third (and last) child, I promised DH not to go over board and purchase every pretty baby thing in site. In fact, I made of list of the bare minimum of things we’ll need and I’m going to try to stick to it.
Diaper Bag: For me, this has always been an important part of the baby gear. To me, your diaper bag should be stylish as well as functional. And lots of pockets are definitely a must! This helps to keep everything organized and within easy reach. After browsing the internet, I found the perfect one for me: Dwell Studio Dot Chocolate Diaper Tote. I really like that it has a stroller clip. My former diaper bags didn’t have a clip so I just flung the entire bag over the stroller handles making the bag practically drag on the ground. The stroller clip keeps this diaper tote in easy reach! Note: However, if I could have absolutely any diaper baby bag in the world, it would be this one. I can dream, can’t I?
Stroller: Our first stroller was a Graco Travel System and we loved it! It was light weight, durable, and very user friendly. I loved that no matter how heavy the stroller got with all our shopping bags hanging off the sides (that is what a stroller is for, right?) it still was easy to push even with one hand. Folding it up was also a breeze. There was only one button to push and that was it. As a flight attendant, I’ve helped many families fold up their expensive strollers only to end up struggling with it longer than necessary. With our Graco stroller, I could hold the baby in one arm and fold the stroller with the other. It made me look like I was SuperMom!
Nursery Theme: With both daughters, I had a Little Suzy Zoo theme for the nursery. Although I still think they’re the cutest characters around my tastes as well as my age has matured. This time around I thought I’d opt for a more modern and chic look. One of my favorite things is a blanket that I purchased from Marshalls and I was so excited to find this Pink Chocolate Polka Dot Nursery Set in the exact same print!

Birth Announcements: Years ago, birth announcements were not as big a deal as it is now. In fact, I think I just hand wrote the girls’ birth information on little cards that I bought from WalMart. These days, we have so many other beautiful options and Tiny Prints definitely has one of the most extensive selection of personalized photo announcements and cards. In fact, I’ve already picked out the one that I want!
There are still other little things I know I’ll need: baby bathtub, avent bottles, a bassinett, electronic swing, medela breast pump, etc. Boy, I sure have some shopping to do!
What was one of your favorite must-have baby items?

The pack n play with bassinet insert. Our 2nd son slept in it in our room for the first month, then we moved it downstairs so he could nap and be changed there and I didn’t have to go up and down the stairs a billion times a day in those early months. I also love all the JJ Cole products. They currently have a diaper caddy out that I covet, to keep supplies in the living room for quick changes, but we’re about done with diapers here.
I know not everyone likes them, but we used the Diaper Genie for all three kids, and still have one to put Kaitlyn’s overnight pull-ups in.
Our Pack n Play was a great investment, our kids slept in it when we traveled (no paying for a rollaway crib of questionable cleanliness in hotels).
Of my three, only Kaitlyn really liked the baby swing, and she really liked it. I recommend going to a store that has them on display and trying a few out to see which your baby prefers before making the purchase.
Lots of newborn size Pampers Swaddlers diapers!
This stuff is all fabulous – I love the polka dot theme! I got the Graco Travel system in Mulberry from Target for our little one coming next week – I swoon everytime I look at it – we’re also planning to try cloth diapering this time around!
My must haves are baby gowns, our co-sleeper and the travel system – oh and the boppy!
The Medela- absolutely worth every penny. I didn’t get a bathtub for my second, just the little foam pad for the big tub. Loved my Boppy more than words, and baby nightgowns for easy diaper changing.
That stuff is all sooooooooooooooooo cute! I love it!
I love the tiny prints collection — I could spend hours poring over their adorable collection
With my last one I discovered the Metro Momma wrap (or maybe it was a knockoff, about $40). I could put the baby in it and bend over, load the dishwasher, etc with it. I also loved my boppy.
Good Luck – I always go overboard!!
Graco do do some great travel systems, as well as some pushchairs and strollers which are fairly nice. It’s good to see you’re getting things together in time for the birth without going over-board with all those extras that aren’t so necessary- after you’ve done it once or so it becomes less about that doesn’t it?
l love that baby bedding!
Honestly, and this is boring, with both girls we had a Fisher Price Kick N Play bouncy seat and it was truly a lifesafer! I also love the exersaucers.
There are so many new products out on the market now and my youngest is only 4. It’s amazing!
Okay, first time reader over here — can I just say — HOW CUTE IS YOUR BLOG?!!! I can already tell I’m going to be back. Found you through Miss Jiggety.
At any rate, I love, love, love my Graco stroller. Our littlest is almost four and we still use it. In fact we took it with us to Disneyland a week or so ago and it still remains one of the easiest strollers to fold up. I cracked up about your flight attendant comment — and those shi-shi expensive strollers. Give me my Graco anyday!
Best wishes on the pregnancy! I’m sure you’re going to be back. And I’m sure your blog can help me satisfy my Hawaii craving!
Friday Hugs!
I meant to say “I’m sure I’M going to be back!”
Duh!
Wow..lot of cute stuff. I like the stroller. Thought of buying a new one for my baby girl.
