Tickle Tap Apps for iPhone & iTouch

Here’s another great iPhone application for younger kids that’s not only fun but educational as well. It’s from a company called Tickle Tap Apps – independent studio dedicated to creating the best apps for preschoolers who spend a great deal of time, care and attention researching, designing, developing and testing their apps.

We had the opportunity to review the following applications:

Sound Shaker – This application helps your child with identifying different sounds and practicing their listening skills.  Just select the musical instrument or mystery sound and add circles by touching the screen. Each time you add a circle you’ll hear the sound you chose. If you touch the screen longer, the circle will get bigger and play a different sound. The cool part is that if you keep holding your touch, the circle gets to it’s maximum size and a bird will hatch and fly away. Once you get the amount of circles you want on the screen, you can tilt the iPhone/iTouch and watch them move around making noises as they bump into each other. Kiana had a blast playing with this. It was simple and easy to learn. Even I found it to be pretty entertaining!

Count Caddy: Like the title suggests, this application focuses on teaching basic counting by ones, twos, and threes with the help of some really cute characters. All you have to do is drag the items into the circle while the voice counts along. When you reach certain levels, you’re rewarded with surprise animations. Since Kiana is learning basic counting in preschool, this was the perfect way to help reinforce what she’s already learned. She liked the engaging animals and had fun dragging the items around. It was easy for her to figure out for herself and she enjoyed playing with it over and over again.
