The Women Behind “The Women”
How do you view your female relationships? Do you see them as soul-mates, competition, or just friends to hang out with? Well, this is the main subject in the upcoming movie – The Women – scheduled to open nationwide on September 12th.
From the site: “The Women is a fast-paced, witty and emotional look at all things female, including loyalties, betrayals, careers, families and most of all, friendships. A remake of the 1939 classic film, The Women features an all-female cast of distinguished actresses, including Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Eva Mendes, Debra Messing, Jada Pinkett Smith, Cloris Leachman, Bette Midler and Candice Bergen.”
To help promote this movie, Dove has put together a short film – The Women Behind “The Women” – that goes behind-the-scenes of “The Women,” focusing on real beauty vs. manufactured beauty ideals in Hollywood. This film follows a 16-year-old teen as she discovers first-hand, how Hollywood creates the images we see on screen and highlights the work and people involved in making a major motion picture come to life.
With the media putting so much emphasis on physical beauty these days, it’s refreshing to see a company that’s focusing on accepting women for their inner beauty instead. Women come in all shapes and sizes and we should celebrate this diversity instead of bending over backward to become people we’re not.
Our new group – Family Review Network – will be covering the opening of this movie and we look forward to sharing our thoughts with you. Stop by for a chance to win 2 tickets to see The Women.
So, what is your definition of real beauty?

real beauty is real women.
this movie is a remake did you know that? It’s also a book. Anyway, my friend and I are going to have a girls night out and go and watch it.
I really want to see this movie. I’ll probably go with my mom.
Kindness, strength, and patience!
Women are quite the creatures, some will do anything to hurt one another and others are sweet and caring. It all comes back to THE WOMEN BEHIND THE WOMEN I guess. Look at how that worked out!
This looks like a great movie and love Dove’s message!
You live in Hawaii!!
I was challenged by my fellow bloggers to run for “President” along with my running mate Mr. Sock Monkey. We are attempting to campaign across America by getting “invites” to visit all 50 states from bloggers.
We have managed to get invitations from all but 3 states but are WORRIED we won’t pull it off. (Mr. Sock Monkey is threatening to get ugly…)
I saw your blog listed somewhere and was hoping you might jump on board and invite us to your state!
You can read about our mission here: (this was the original post)

We decided to start our campaign ONLY if we get all 50 states. As it looks now, we are starting to write our WE COULDNT GET ALL 50 STATES CUZ WE SUCK concession speech!
Today’s entry tells you the 3 states we still need!
Thanks for considering helping me (and one angry sock monkey!)

i do believe that real beauty comes from within. it shines forth.
i’m looking forward to this movie.
I would like to watch Women..seemed like an interesting movie..:)
that looks FABOULOUS!
I hope that I’m able to go see it all by myself when it comes out.
Hmmmm – real beauty . . . ?
Confidence and a smile and geometrically proportioned features (had to throw in that last one! LOL)
I know this is so cliche. But the most beautiful women I know are beatiful, wonderful people on the inside. 2 in particular, I can think of,Hollywood wouldn’t look once at. But to me, they are the most beautiful women I know.
Real beauty… hmmm… I guess I haven’t really thought about it. I think you see a person’s real beauty when you see them laugh or cry…
Beauty is friendly, genuine, helpful, kind. I can’t wait to see the movie.
This is amazing. As a woman who is friends with many other women, let me concur that yes, we are complicated, funny, smart, and beautiful, in so many different ways. I am off to watch the movie short, I’m so glad you posted this!
i will definitely see this movie
