I had no idea that The Smurfs were even still around but I’m glad they are. I used to love watching their cartoons on a Saturday morning when I was child and now my girls can enjoy watching them, too, in The Smurfs World of Wonders.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The Smurfs are a group of over 100 bluish, three-apple tall creatures who live in the mushroom homes of Smurf Village. They are led by 543- year-old Papa Smurf. Their lives would be perfect were it not for the villianous Gargamel, a wizard who spends his days trying to capture them to eat, turn into gold, or for other evil reasons. Gargamel’s cat Azrael adds to the menace, always looking for a tasty, Smurfy snack.

OUR REVIEW

At first, my girls couldn’t understand why everyone was blue. However, once they got over it they really enjoyed the show. This 90-minute DVD included 5 episodes:

  1. Sleepwalking Smurf – Gargamel uses Madame Trilby’s magic flute to lead sleeping Smurfs out of their village.
  2. The Littlest Giant – Papa Smurf helps a young runaway giant re-unite with his own family.
  3. Squeaky – Smurfette learns to value the passage of life when her pet mouse dies.
  4. The Secret of Matrochu – Johan, Peewee and the Smurfs must restore a young royal who’s gone to the dogs, courtesy of an evil baron who wants to marry the beautiful Genevieve.
  5. All’s Smurfy that Ends Smurfy – Gargamel steals fairy gold and the fairies accuse the Smurfs of taking it which leads to an all-out war that Papa Smurf must stop.
