If those other kids clocks are a little to tame for you child, check out the Sonic Bomb Skull Alarm Clock ($54.95) by Sonic Alert. It will have your child shaking . . . literally.

The sbs550bc aka “the skull”, has been designed for guys and girls that think outside the box. With bright red flashing eye sockets, a strip of orange flashing alert lights, and our deadly bone crusher bed shaker, you might want to sleep with one eye open.

Definitely not your average kids alarm clock! The Skull uses different ways to wake your child up in the morning – alarm, flashing lights, and a bed shaker – all at the same time. Setting up the clock and alarm was pretty easy that even Kacie could figure it out on her own.

The alarm is advertised as “113 decibels of screaming terrifying sound” which concerned me a little since I’m not sure that’s the way I want Kacie waking up in the morning. However, even though the actual alarm was pretty loud it was basically just a beeping kind of sound. The cool thing is that not only can you adjust the volume but you can also adjust the tone from low to high. Kacie really liked that you have to hit the skull’s head in order to snooze for an additional 9 minutes. The brochure said you can snooze up to a total of 119 minutes which is kind of funny when you think about it.

The flashing lights were pretty cool. The eyes on the skull and a row of lights above the display all flash off and on when the alarm in going off. If I heard the alarm and slowly peeked my eyes open, those flashing lights would definitely get my attention.

The bed shaker was actually pretty strong considering that the disc is not very big. We placed it under our top mattress and the vibrations were felt throughout the bed. This is something your child will not be able to ignore in the morning and will have to get up in order to turn it off.

I also liked that you can hook up your own MP3 player with the inline cable (included) and play your own music using the alarm clock’s speakers. However, don’t expect an exceptional sound. These are pretty much stock speakers but it does get the job done.

If you’re looking for a fun and unique way to get your child up and going in the morning this is the way to do it. They’ll have a “screaming” good time!
