Even though Summer vacation is coming to an end here in the islands, that doesn’t mean that the girls are ready to stop having fun. We’re still heading outdoors during the days and having movie nights in the evenings. We plan to make the most of every single minute until the girls have to go back to school again.
Thanks to RedBox and Phase 4 Films we recently received a Rainy Day “S-O-S Kit” to help keep the kids entertained no matter what the weather is like outside. The kit included:
- 8 family friendly Phase 4 Films
- Theater-style snacks – popcorn and candy
- DIY entertainment sheet with instructions for rainy day activities
- Deck of cards
- Fleece blanket for getting cozy under

Now, back to our Rainy Day “S-O-S Kit” . . .
The kids were thrilled to receive our special package and since we’ve already seen Smitty and Space Dogs, they decided to watch the advance screener of My Friend Bernard.
My Friend Bernard, releasing in August 2012, is based on a wildly popular international hit animated series. The film centers around Sam, a shy boy who’s afraid of almost everything. One day, a mysterious man gives him a magic pendant with a solution to his problems: a polar bear sidekick named Bernard who helps him lose all of his fears and enables Sam to face up to even the worst monsters with comedy and humor.

The kids loved Bernard and his huge comical eyes. He always had this look of “surprise” that made you think that the things he did was kind of by accident. In any case, it was a great family film with important messages of friendship and believing in yourself. These are all great lessons especially with school starting again soon.
And of course, the kids just had to play with the deck of cards. Building a house of cards on the hard wood floor was a little difficult so they settled on playing “Go Fish” instead.
So while Summer is still around, stop by RedBox and enter to win a trip of a lifetime. At the very least you’ll get to rent some great family entertainment for some quality family time.
