Mrs. Dash Seasoning Blend Review

My husband’s family has a history of heart disease.  Both of his parents had heart problems and ultimately passed away because of them.  When his brother was diagnosed with congestive heart failure a few years ago, it made me realize how important it was to change some of the eating habits in our own home.  I know that sodium is a big trigger for heart related conditions, but I love salt, so what’s a gal to do?

Mrs. Dash Seasoning Blends

Mrs. Dash Seasoning Blends have come to my rescue.  These all natural blends contain a mix of 14 herbs and spices.  Both salt and MSG free, with 15 flavors to choose from, they makes dishes burst with flavor.

In order to really decide whether these seasoning blends passed the “you don’t need salt” test,  I used them on steamed vegetables.

Mrs. Dash Steamed VegetablesAll four varieties that I was able to try passed the test, with flying colors I might add.

The blends all fit well with the names they carry on their labels, which I appreciated.  I have purchased spice blends in the past that didn’t taste like I thought they should.

Mrs. Dash Seasoning Blends are very flavorful.  You only need a little to provide a lot of taste.  Because of that I wish that there was a different dispensing lid on them.  Something with a split lid, perhaps with smaller holes for the blend to pass through.

Mrs. Dash DispenserI covered up half the holes with my fingers when shaking it, and found it still came out in amounts greater than I needed.

My favorite out of the four was the Fiesta Lime seasoning.  It gave my veggie mix just the right amount of zest.  The citrus flavor is noticeable but not overpowering, it complimented the other spices well.  This would make a great taco seasoning.

I like that the jars give you ideas on what foods the blends will compliment as well as tips on what else you can do with them.

Mrs. Dash TipsIf you like flavor on your food (and really who doesn’t?!) but want to cut down or ditch the salt altogether, pick up some Mrs. Dash Seasoning Blends.  With an assortment of flavors and an affordable price of about $3.00 for 97 servings, your heart and your taste buds will thank you.  Visit www.mrsdash.com to see all the varieties available as well as other products, recipes and more.

I just have to warn that mrs dash is not the best substitute for salt if you have kidney disease or if you are watching your potassium, which is also important for heart patients. actually a lot of salt substitutes are packed full of potassium instead of sodium.

it’s always best to just go ahead and create your own seasonings, then you know exactly what’s in your seasonings.

    just a suggestion.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I want to watch our salt intake as my husband’s family also has a history of heart problems and I have blood sugar issues, and I’ve been told to be careful with the salt. But I too love a lot of flavor on my food and am just kinda addicted to salt. Anyway, I’m glad to know there is something I can add to my food to make it flavorful without lots of salt. Thanks again!
