Are you looking for an explosive math game for your children to play?  If so you should check out Meteor Math by Mindshapes.  Meteor Math is an app for your iPhone or iPad.  It is a great way for your kids to practice addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.  You also get to make some meteors explode!

I really love this app for my kids because I homeschool my oldest two kids.  My daughter is 8 and my son is 5.  Both of them love this game.  I found it can be addicting for adults as well.  What person would love to make some meteors explode?  Also you should challenge your mind every day if you are an adult or a kid and this app is a fun way to do it.

There are three different levels that you can choose from.  You can do Practice, Compete, or Survival.  I focused mostly on addition with my kids and we do the Practice level because it is easier.

This screen shot lets you see how it is done.

Now lets talk about the how to play.  It is very simple.  You have the target number in the half circle in the middle top of your screen then you are given other numbers that are on meteors.  You take the number on the the meteors and they have to equal the number in the half circle.  All you have to do is tap the meteors with your finger.  You must do this before the time runs out or you will be dropped a level.  If you get the correct numbers your meteors will explode.

This screen shot shows the number 9 in the half circle.  You can see that below that you must tap the 5 and the 4 below so you can get the number 9.

I have found that it is sometimes hard to get the game to pick up when you are tapping the screen.  It is not as sensitive as what it should be because this is a timed game.  When you do tap the meteor it will light up.  If you tap the wrong one you can tap the same number again and it will not be lit up.  Then you can go on to tap the right numbers.

This screen shot shows that the number 4 was selected because it is lit up.

After you get to a certain point you will level up and keep on going.  I haven’t played for so long because my children always grab it from me to play.  They really enjoy this app.

This screen shot shows the game going up a level and also the meteors exploding.

So if you are looking for a game to help your kids learn and have fun at the same time then I think you should check out Meteor Math.  It can be purchased in the App Store for the iPhone or iPad for $2.99.

This post was written for Meteor Math who provided the complimentary download in exchange for my honest review.
