Making Music With Musicolor

Technology never ceases to amaze me. The interactive toys that are being released these days are so advanced and entertaining that I sometimes wish I was a kid again. Since I know that’s never going to happen, I guess I’ll just have to play these great toy inventions with my daughters. One of these cool toys is Musicolor by Delta Creative.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Whether it’s banging the pots with a wooden spoon or drawing to-be-determined shapes with markers on paper, kids just love to be creative. The worlds of music and art are wide open to them and parents may think they have the next Rembrandt or Ravel sitting at the kitchen table. Imagine giving a child a toy that combines coloring with music. Delta Creative, makers of paint and craft products, has launched Musicolor — allowing kids, incredibly, to create music by coloring (in or out of the lines)!

OUR REVIEW

When our Musicolor arrived, we couldn’t wait to try it out. As you know, Kacie wants to be an artist when she grows up so this was perfect for her. It came with the Musicolor player, 14 pre-printed song discs, 8 music note markers, 5 create-a-song discs, and 1 pre-colored song disc. All we needed to provide was 2 AA batteries.

We started with the pre-printed song discs and both girls selected the one they wanted to use. The pictures on the discs are color & letter coded to match with the coordinating marker. This made coloring the discs so much easier, especially for 3 year old Kiana. This allowed her to color all by herself. She was so proud of her finished product!

Then we tried coloring the blank create-a-song discs. This was a great way to allow the girls to express their creativity. It was also exciting because they didn’t know how their finished product would sound like. The only suggestion I have is to make sure your kids do not color too many neighboring sections in the same color. This will cause the player to play the same note over and over again.

Then came the moment of truth, playing the discs. I really like how the player resembles an actual record player. My girls have never seen one before but I sure remember them from my childhood. When playing your discs, you choose from piano, horn, or violin. Our favorite is the horn because it creates such a fun sound!

Isn’t that just way too cool? Get your Musicolor at Delta Creative for $49.99.
