This is probably one of the best reviews my family has done.  My boys are absolutely crazy about Lego Ninjago!  So when the opportunity to review the dvd was presented to us they were thrilled!!!

NINJA-GO!  The world of Ninjago is in terrible danger.  An army of skeletons has invaded from the underworld, under the command of the evil Lord Garmadon.  Their goal:  capture the Four Weapons of Spinjitzu, artifacts so powerful it is said no one being can wield them all at once.  Now Garmadon’s brother, the heroic Sensei Wu, must gather four young men and train them in the ways of the ancient art of Spinjitzu.  These four – Kai, Jay, Zane and Cole- must become ninja and stand against the dark power of Garmadon and his evil skeleton army.  If they fail, the four weapons will be lost and Ninjago doomed forever.

My boys have been watching Lego Ninjago on Cartoon Network for a while.  In fact, this show is the reason why they’ll get up early on a Saturday morning.  There are times when I’ll sit with them to watch an episode but I’ve never watched Lego Ninjago from the beginning so I had no idea how everything began.  Lego Ninjago Master of Spinjitzu is the perfect dvd for those who don’t know what Lego Ninjago is all about (me included).  This dvd contains two episodes – Way of the Ninja and King of ShadowsWay of the Ninja takes us back to the beginning and shows us how Lego Ninjago came to be and what spinjitzu is.  The four young men – Jay, Cole, Zane, and Kai are each dressed in a different color uniform (blue, white, black, and red).  The part that I found interesting was they each represent a different elemental property.  These elemental properties are fire, lightning, earth, and ice.  The young men are guided and taught by Sensei Wu.  He is a very wise man and is also the brother of the enemy, Lord Garmadon.  Sensei Wu trains these young men to gather the Four Weapons of Spinjitzu.  They battle dragons that protect the weapons and the army of skeletons whom Lord Garmadon commands from the underworld.  During one of the battles, the four young men realize that spinjitzu is in them when they notice the army of skeletons is similar to their training equipment.  This realization helps them to retrieve the first weapon of Spinjitzu.

The second episode is King of Shadows.  This episode begins with the Ninjago capturing two more weapons of Spinjitzu.  It is during the retrieval of the last weapon of Spinjitzu that we learn Lord Garmadon had planned the whole thing.  Since Lord Garmadon is banished to the underworld, he is not able to retrieve the sword which is one of the weapons of Spinjitzu.  Lord Garmadon appears as a shadow on the surface.  While tricking Kai into retrieving the sword, the other weapons of Spinjitzu are stolen from them by the army of skeletons.  In order to keep the four weapons of Spinjitzu apart, Sensei Wu heads to the underworld to battle his brother.  When the leader of the skeleton army captures all four weapons he is powerless against the weapons.  This creates a vortex out of the underworld for Lord Garmadon.  This is when we learn that Lord Garmadon’s master plan was to capture the four weapons in order to leave the underworld.  Ninjago is able to retrieve all four weapons, but they know their fight with Lord Garmadon is not over.  What a perfect way to end a dvd and to leave us asking for more.

If you have young boys, I can guarantee they will enjoy Lego Ninjago Masters of Spinjitzu.  It’s definitely worth the money, because if your boys are like my boys they’ll be watching it over and over and over and over again!!!
