In this wonderful book by Alison Murray, we follow along in a little puppy’s quest for a taste of freshly baked apple pie. The really cool thing is that it takes us through the story step-by-step, letter-by-letter.

A – apple pie

B- bake it

C- cool it

D- dish it out

E- eager for it

and on and on.

Most of the alphabet books that we’ve read in the past pretty much just listed the letters and objects. Apple Pie ABC actually tells a story along with a very happy ending. We thought it was a unique way to teach letter recognition while keeping Kaila’s attention drawn to the story. The retro looking illustrations also added to the overall old-school feel of the book.

It’s definitely a book we’ll be reading again and again!
