Technology never ceases to amaze me especially when it comes to kid-friendly programs. These days, you can do the most amazing things! Case in point . . . ItzaBitza. Who would have thought you could draw an object with your mouse and watch it transform into part of the game?
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Children’s imaginations ignite as they watch their own drawings come to life in front their eyes. Sabi’s Living Ink™ technology anticipates what a child draws and then teaches the computer how to use that drawing as an interactive in-game object. Children advance through five playsets, or levels, earning stars and solving challenges along the way.
OUR REVIEW
Girlie Girl had the opportunity to review ItzaBitza and she loved it! In fact, I couldn’t get her off my laptop long enough to check my email. Basically, you choose from 5 different scenes and using the mouse draw the required objects. For example, a house. Using Living Link technology, the program is designed to recognize Girlie Girl’s drawing as a house, even if it doesn’t look like one, and animates the drawing accordingly.

The program is pretty easy to use if you follow the verbal instructions. Girlie Girl was able to follow along and figure out how to play without any help from me. She was really amazed at seeing her pictures come to life. There were also simple sentences that she need to read to figure out what to do next. If she got stuck, all she needed to do was mouse over the word and a voice would read the word for her.
I really liked how this program encouraged her to read and rewarded her with a sense of accomplishment. She’s a very independent person and thrives on being self-sufficient. I felt this was the perfect program for her to help foster this trait. She also had a lot of fun along the way. It’s a great way to express creativity!

Kailani that looks like fabulous FUN! I just joined a web-site called sketchu that @mistygirl suggested. You can draw and then replay the sequences and publish immediately but this animated game you showed itzabitza looks incredible. I am inspired daily by your lively blog! It’s exciting.
Aloha,
Marilyn

Kailani,
I am honored you and Girlie Girl took the time to review ItzaBitza. I’m a mom too – which got me totally passionate to provide our kids with technology in which – if they play – heck, on to Ivy League schools they go! And learning is like making cupcakes. The reward is so much worth the work. I wrote a blog post that explains our approach: http://sabigames.com/2009/10/video-games-can-get-kids-craving-to-read/
I hope Girlie Girl enjoys the Haunted House playset as we get closer to Halloween.
All – as a mom – I can always use your feedback. I’m on twitter a lot at @ItzaBitza
thank you and kind regards to all!
