Itsy Bitsy Spider by Duck Duck Moose

Here’s another great kids application for iPhone and iTouch – Itsy Bitsy Spider by Duck Duck Moose. This application is based on the classic children’s song so I knew Kiana would love it. Itsy Bitsy Spider is one of the few songs that she knows all the words to.

Like the other applications by Duck Duck Moose, this one was very kid-friendly and Kiana was able to figure out how to use it without any help from me. All she had to do was poke the spider with her finger to go to the next screen. What she loved best about this app was that almost every item she touched started to move. This aspect was very encouraging to her and helped keep her attention. Her absolute favorite part is when the banana falls on the slug. She laughs hysterically every time!

What I liked about this application is that not only does it keep Kiana occupied but it’s also very educational. Duck Duck Moose has incorporated a little fly that teaches children some great aspects about nature and the world around them. In fact, Kiana proudly announced one day that she knows what makes a rainbow. When I asked her where she learned it from, she said “A fly.”

Even though this is a children’s application, I got a kick out of stacking hats on the spider. I wanted to see how many I could get on her head before they fell off. The guy sitting next to me in the doctor’s office waiting room smiled to himself when he saw what I was playing on my iPhone.
And if that’s not enough, there are other features to this great application:
- Count from 1 to 10 as a squirrel builds his house
- Find hidden eggs on a scavenger hunt
- Create your own music with musical eggs that play 12 different notes
- Listen to classical music with violin and cello pizzicato
- Record your own singing!
All this for only $.99! What a great deal!
