Restore Clean Water SystemI love water and I drink lots of it.  At home I normally drink filtered water through our refrigerator, but thanks to HoMedics, I was fortunate to try their Restore Clean Water System (ARV $99.99).

Restore is a complete purification system in an affordable, easy to use pitcher. Restore provides cleaner, great tasting tap water by innovatively combining germ-killing UV Clean technology with a water filtration system. Restore is a breakthrough solution.

First I washed the Restore Clean Water System’s BPA-free parts, and also rinsed the filter and immersed it in water as directed, but there were still some black stains on the filter despite rinsing and cleaning it.  It was a bit unsettling to see all the black carbon dust all over the filter, but this is actually normal.

I filled up the pitcher twice and discarded it per the directions (I used it to clean the kitchen sink), then I started to fill up the pitcher to get purified.

One aspect about the pitcher that I disliked is how the measurement markings are on only one side of the pitcher. I thought perhaps it would be better overall if markings were on both sides of the pitcher so you could see them regardless of which hand you were holding the pitcher’s handle in.

Purifying the water was simple.  Once the pitcher was filled, I attached the plug, made sure the switch on the pitcher was in the “purify” position, and I pressed the Purify button on the adapter.  The UV light glows for approximately a minute, and I have purified water in a matter of seconds.

Although I couldn’t taste the difference from the filtered water we usually drink (and neither could DH), I’ve been using the pitcher constantly.

At times I still forget to switch the valve back to “fill,” and although the lid does not stay securely on the pitcher (it has fallen off), it’s a great pitcher that is sleek and stylish, and that can sense when the filter needs to be changed (with average use, the filter will last approximately 2 months).

Overall the Restore Clean Water System is wonderful, providing refreshing, clean water via a system that is simple to use, eco-friendly, and economical.
