Working full-time and having 3 young girls can keep this Mom very busy. That’s why I’m always looking for appliances that will assist in making quick but healthy meals. One of the first names that come to my mind is George Foreman. Who would have thought?

cooker 1The George Foreman® brand pioneered indoor grills that Knock Out the Fat™ and is doing it again with a line of revolutionary products to help consumers cook more healthfully. The Smart Kitchen™ is a multi-cooker that can prepare rice, steam vegetables, sear and cook meat, make stews, warm sauces and more. This appliance takes one-pot cooking to a whole new level with unique features and a great-looking design.

When our Smart Kitchen arrived, I couldn’t wait to use it! When I opened the box the first thing I noticed was how compact it’s size was. It’s deeper than wide which is really great if you have limited counter space. This design is also perfect for making soups and stews.

The only thing is that the unit does not come with a recipe book and I couldn’t find any on their website. I prefer to use recipes as opposed to “winging it” so I was kind of lost at first. However, after checking out the various setting controls I figured I could handle it. I decided to make our family’s favorite beef stew from Jumbo’s Restaurant.

When I cook the stew on the stove top, I usually have to do it in steps . . . cook meat, add veggies & water, simmer for an hour, add tomatoes and paste, simmer again. It takes about 90 minutes for it to be completely done.

With the Smart Kitchen, the meal was completed and ready to eat in about an hour. The great thing is that there’s a “sear” setting that made cooking the stew meat really quick and easy.

Once that was done, I threw everything in at one time, covered, and cooked for about 45 minutes.

And, OMG, the meat was so soft and tender that even Kiana ate it without complaining.
