The first season of Gary Unmarried is out on DVD.
This comedy show is about recently divorced Gary (Jay Mohr) and his entrance once again on the dating scene. Add an ex-wife (Paula Marshall) who marries their marriage therapist (Ed Begley Jr.) and two kids, and you’ve got yourself some funny stuff.
All 20 episodes are on 3 discs, with some extras, including my favorite: bloopers. I often think those are funnier than the show itself!
I never watched Gary Unmarried when CBS showed the first run. So these episodes were all new to me. If you have ever watched the New Adventures of Old Christine, this is a similar concept but from more of a male perspective.
I admit I’m quite conservative on certain issues, and so blushed a bit at some of the jokes. I’m glad our 13 year old wasn’t watching with us as I’m sure I would have been red as a tomato if she had asked me to explain some of them ☺.
Despite my reservations, we have laughed quite a bit while watching these episodes. There are some very funny one liners that I’m itching to commit to memory, so I have some ammunition to zing someone when the opportunity is right.
The characters are well cast, and if the laughs keep up, maybe we’ll see a few more seasons of Gary Unmarried. To see a trailer clip and more details of the bonus features you can visit the Gary Unmarried DVD landing site.
