Dora’s Easter Adventure

It’s Easter time for Dora and Boots and they’re all dressed up in their best Easter clothes as they wait for the Hip-Hop Bunny to bring his basket filled with eggs and treats. Of course, once he arrives Swiper makes an appearance and swipes the bunny’s basket. After throwing it into the Rainbow Garden where it’s headed for a waterfall, its up to Dora and Boot to save the day.

In true Dora style, the pair consults with The Map and learns that they have to pass the itchy-scratchy garden flowers, visit a petting farm, and race down the Rainbow River on a giant rubber ducky to get to the Easter basket. Along the way they sing catchy tunes that get the kids involved by answering questions and following simple dance moves. We especially liked the ending when they finally find the basket and the Easter Bunny sadly turns to leave because he thinks that his job is done. Dora stops him and asks him to stay and celebrate with her family and friends.

My girls have always loved Dora and this DVD was no exception. They really enjoyed how the writers brought this tale into the 21st century by adding in a lot of rap-type lyrics and movements. Even The Map got into the spirit by adding in his own little homeboy gestures. During the show the girls learned counting by clapping, how to follow directions, a few Spanish words and phrases, color recognition, and many more educational tidbits. It’s a great way to learn and have fun at the same time!

There were also 2 additional bonus episodes:

  • The Grumpy Old Troll Gets Married – Well, this proves that there’s someone for everyone – even a grumpy old troll! In this episode, the Grumpy Old Troll and Petunia are getting married but the troll forgot the wedding rings at his Grandmother’s house. Dora and her friends must dance the “Troll’s Happy Dance” to make it across the Flowery Garden; count with the Wedding Bells and find the rings at Grandma’s house so the Grumpy Old Troll can have his wedding.
  • Dora in Troll Land – Dora and her friends want to play on the new playground but they have to pass the troll bridge to get there. However, when they reach the bridge they find that the Grumpy Old Troll has gone missing. They jump into Troll Land and start looking for their friend. Of course, Map is there to help by plotting out their course which takes them to a big hole that the Grumpy Old Troll has fallen into. A great story of friendship!
