My kids like yougurt, so we have tried a number of different varieties. Most have been the run of the mill Dannon or Yoplait. We even have tried Yo Baby and Stoneybrook Farms, so I guess you would say we are yogurt connoisseurs.
This being said, when I heard of Chobani, this was a company that I had never heard of before. Also, when I started reading about their yogurt, I was intrigued. This definitely was not going to be your run of the mill yogurt experience.
About Chobani
Chobani Greek Yogurt is made deep in the rolling hills of Upstate New York. Their expert team is committed to bringing you all-natural products that are not only the highest quality but also taste great too.
Unlike regular yogurt brands who rely on artificial additives to enhance the taste of their products, their secret is not an ingredient but a passion and love for what they do…and a man who goes by the name of Mustafa.
Mustafa Dogan is Chobani’s Master Yogurt Maker. He’s an artisan armed with years of yogurt-making experience and is responsible for crafting the rich, deliciousness that is Chobani.
Mustafa custom blends special yogurt cultures just for Chobani. The company then adds these to the milk that they receive daily from local farms to make yogurt. They then strain this yogurt to make it outrageously creamy and ridiculously high in protein. Did you know it takes three pounds of milk to make one pound of Chobani?
This unique straining process is what makes Chobani Greek Yogurt “Greek†and full of flavor and health benefits:
- All natural. No preservatives. No artificial flavors.
- No synthetic growth hormones: No rBST-treated milk.
- Includes 5 live & active cultures, including 3 probiotics.
- Made with real fruit.
- Twice the protein of regular yogurts.
- A good source of bone-building calcium.
- Gluten-Free and Kosher-Certified.
- Safe for people with corn, nut and soy allergies.
With all the nutritional benefits the adult line of products offer, Chobani Champions is made exclusively for children’s tastes in four yummy flavors, StrawNana, VerryBerry HoneyNana and Chocolate, sold in four-pack multi-packs for $3.99. Each cup of Champions packs in 10% of the daily calcium requirement with five live and active cultures including three probiotics and two times more protein than other yogurts – providing 34% of the daily value. All Chobani products are all-natural, gluten-free, Kosher certified and made with hormone-free milk. Nutritious and delicious!
What Makes Chobani Different
First and foremost it is Greek Yogurt which is very different then most yogurt on the market (I will explain more in my take on the product). Second, the health benefits outrank most other yogurt on the market. Third, 10% of all profits that the company makes is given to charity. Even on the main website for Chobani (http://www.chobani.com/) there is a charity link for people to partner with Chobani in aiding the victims of Haiti.
My Take on Chobani Kids Yogurt
I was given four types of yogurt to try including: Strawnana; Verryberry; Honeynana & Chocolate. At first glance I noticed a marked difference in the nutritional value within these versus the other yogurt that we had in the fridge. What most stood out was the amount of protein in one container of Chobani (9g).
In opening the first one that I tried (Chocolate), I was surprised to see how much thicker the yogurt was than the regular yogurt. I tried it out and provided J-Mom a try as well, and we both had mixed feelings about the first taste. It was so different than what we were used to. Yet, the more that I ate of the yogurt, the more that I liked the taste of it, and in subsequent tries of the other varieties I found this to continue to be true.
One thing that I did not like as much was the aftertaste. I found that there was a distinct aftertaste to the product that was not always appealing, and it lasted quite some time after eating the yogurt.
I had the kids try it and they seems to like the flavors as well and they even asked for more, which is always a positive step in the right direction.
Overall, the health benefits of this product are ones that would encourage me to switch my regular yogurt to something else. So if you are looking for a new yogurt, come over to Chobani to find out more about the products.

Very interesting. I’ve never heard of this company – but I love yogurt and a healthier option is always good.

The chocolate is similar to the Stonyfield Chocolate underground but less tangy and more creamy. I’m not even a parent but I’m definitely going to be eating a lot of these for breakfasts and deserts – they’re incredibly delicious.
