Chicken Soup for the Soul: Devotional Stories for Women

Over the last few years, I’ve certainly dealt with a lot of changes…..the unexpected loss of a parent, the birth of a child, leaving the workplace to be a stay-at-home mom, and countless other changes. One thing I’ve learned is that it helps to know there are others who are going through the exact same thing (the good or the bad). That’s one of the main reasons I am enjoying the time I spend reading Chicken Soup for the Soul: Devotional Stories for Women: 101 Daily Devotions to Comfort, Encourage and Inspire Women.
An inspiring foreward is written by Jennifer Sands, wife of 9/11 victim Jim Sands. She describes the book well when she shares with readers,
“None of us were made to stand alone! God uses us to hold each other up and bear each other’s burdens. That is the very essence of 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, and that is the very essence of this book.”
I couldn’t agree more. With 101 daily devotionals spanning topics from motherhood to illness, everyone can find a bit of something they can relate to.
Topics include:
Faith
Motherhood
Life Lessons
Illness
God’s Helpers
Parenting
Relationships
Loss
Service to Others
Marriage
Self-Esteem
Each devotional is short, which is perfect for any busy woman (and ideal for this mom). As with all Chicken Soup for the Soul books, each author shares their personal experiences in such a way that will make you laugh, shed a tear, or even give you a sense of community. I really enjoy reading about each author in the back of the book. There’s a small section that talks about the contributors and a bit about their life.
Did you know that you can contribute too? You can submit a story! They welcome stories and poems from contributors of all ages.
This post was written for Chicken Soup for the Soul who provided the complimentary book in exchange for an honest review.

Debra traded in high-powered suits and high-heeled shoes for a new role as mommy–crayon enthusiast, storyteller, and kisser of boo-boo’s. You’ll find her helping families at A Frugal Friend, where she teaches others how to reduce their expenses through coupons, rebates, freebies and deals. |

I love the Chicken Soup for the Soul books too. Currently I’m reading Count Your Blessings. It is wonderful, as to be expected.
I have read many of them, but wish to read the whole set.
