Belli Skin Care

Our skin changes so much when we become pregnant and even into motherhood. Pre-pregnancy, I had such great and clear skin that I hardly used any makeup at all. That all changed though…..now I look at the signs of motherhood in the mirror every day (in addition to the dark circles, oh wait, that’s another sign of motherhood!).

Skin changes can occur all over, not just our face. I especially remember the itchiness when I was I was pregnant with my little girl….ooooh how I loved my back to be scratched. One company has created a skin care line which focuses on the changing body, skin care issues, and extra safety concerns that we as expectant and new mothers have. The company: Belli.

I wish I’d known of Belli’s products while I was pregnant. It’s so easy to watch what we put in our mouths while thinking of that little baby…..so concerned about food coloring, nitrites, mercury and more. How many of us really think about what we put on our body – the chemicals? I admit I never gave a thought of what chemicals were in everyday items like body lotions.  That has now changed.

Belli says they have the only skin care line that is teratology screened. What does this mean? This means they exclude ingredients with even remote links to birth defects or other problems with pregnancy.

Belli Motherhood is LactMed screened to avoid ingredients linked to harmful effects during breastfeeding.

Belli Baby
Belli Baby is screened for xenoestrogens—chemicals which can act like hormones that interfere with normal development of the reproductive system.

Dr. Jason Rubin, the founding physician of the Belli lines, created these products to keep his wife and baby safe. He was concerned about skincare ingredients being absorbed into the bloodstream, where they can pass into baby’s circulation. What a husband and father!

My little one has suffered with eczema since she was born. I have to be extra careful with all skincare products and have loved the Belli Baby line since I am comforted by the knowledge that they don’t use artificial dyes and they allergy-test each product. I LOVE the smell of the baby lotion. It’s unlike anything else I’ve used on my little one – and it reminds me of something from my childhood, but I just can’t place it. It’s heavenly.

Now, this is pampering! I have a tie for my favorite product here. First, I have found a new favorite body lotion in the All Day Moisture Body Lotion. It contains chamomile, shea butter and lemon oil…….and since I am a huge fan of anything lemon, I really enjoy the scent. Second, the Body Exfoliator. I love the pampering, but once again, it’s the ingredients that make this one special. With Peppermint Oil, Ginseng and Green Tea, this made me feel like I was at the spa!
