You Know You’re Losing Your Mind When . . .

You come home from grocery shopping and place all the bags on the kitchen floor. You hear the cats fighting so you proceed to investigate. You then notice the computer and wonder if anyone sent you an email. After a while, Baby Bug comes strolling into the room chewing on an apple and carrying a book. How in the world did she get that apple? You sit with her to read the book. Thirty minutes later you decide to make lunch and head for the kitchen. What the heck? What are all these bags on the floor? OMG! You forgot to put the groceries away. So that’s how she got the apple. Thank goodness I didn’t buy ice cream or apple juice!

Anything like this ever happen to you?

BTW, my apologies for not making the rounds like I usually do. I’m in the middle of a blog project which is supposed to be launched this weekend. It’s taking up a lot of time but I’m having fun and you’ll all be so proud of me when it’s done.

In the meantime, please stop by An Island Review and read my latest review on The Little Black Book of Style. If you leave a comment there, you’ll be entered to win a copy for yourself! Good luck!

    :)

  2. Deb says:

Oh yes… Unfortunately that kind of thing happens to me a lot. Too funny though! :)

  3. Summer says:

Ah yes, this has happened many times. Though these days, when I find Obi-Wan munching on an apple I know he has scaled the countertop to get it off the top of the fridge. The boy would eat all apples if I let him.

  4. Melli says:

LOL! I do that more NOW than I did when they were little! The computer… it’s all the computer’s fault!

  5. Laura @ Laura Williams' Musings says:

Oh yes, I’ve done that but once since we moved because out house it like an open floor plan in the living room and kitchen… I can the stuff if I left it and the children start putting the groceries away as soon as I am home from shopping. Which is a good thing in itself.

  6. tracey says:

:) Ah, sounds like a lovely day. At least she was eating an apple, and not something dangerous!

I opened my email to read it and realized that I need to send my sucessor some files. So I begin typing up the email for that but as I’m doing the email I remember that I should also get the files ready to hand over to her. As I am getting her files ready I have to separate out what goes to her and what goes to the other gal so I start getting into that mess too and I’m doing one pile for gal A one pile for gal B and trash.
I get a full container of trash and go to take it to the garage trash can. While there I remember that there is some stuff in the garage that needs to go to these people too, so I put part in the car cuz I’ll see Gal A on Monday and I sort out the rest between Gal A, Gal B & the trash again (seems lots of folks keep giving me stuff to get rid of for them when they should have tossed it in the trash and so I’ve been storing it in my garage!) I come in from the garage with something and remember that I should start dinner, but I should empty the dishwasher first, empty the dishwasher and start the dinner…then eventually I head back to the office which is a mess with all my piles of stuff so I continue on that and then realize that I never sent the email. So I look at it and do some revisions and then send the email out and do some more of the sorting.
While sorting through the stuff for Gal A I find a CHECK! that should have gone into the bank a long time ago. GASP and I set it on my printer (catch all pile) so I sort through that pile of stuff and then the bank records that got with the account that that check needs to go into.
In the end, the check is still sitting on my computer printer. The files still need to get gone through. But I did pretty much get the files separated and the email sent, the dishwasher unloaded and the dinner made.
I got a call from Gal B yesterday because Tuesday was the day that she was suposed to take over. I still am not ready to do that and I haven’t been doing the job that she’s taking over for a bit so that work is piling up and I want to get it done before she sees my terrible mess!

    So, No you’re not alone.

It’s that new pink laptop of yours! It’s just too irresistible! ;)

  9. Desert Songbird says:

Aren’t you a bit too young to have this happen to you? LOL – it’s because we’re mothers and we’re so easily distracted, especially when we have really young ones.

Don’t worry – it get’s easier as your kids get older. They’re around to remind you of your mental lapses…

  10. Desert Songbird says:

Dang it – I HATE when I hit “submit” before I check my misspellings! It GETS easier…

  11. Melissa says:

I have done that… the last time it was with TWO gallons of milk. :P

  12. wendy says:

Yes, I do stuff like that all the time. Too many things going on at once. I am really bad about it when I’m cleaning. I go to get something I need for one room and start cleaning in another, forgetting to go back and finish what I started.

  13. Kim says:

YES! This is SO me! My son asked me the other day, why I didn’t want three kids. I answered because I’m happy with what God gave me. My daughter then asked me, if it was because it’s easier for me to only keep up with two!! haha!

  14. Holly Schwendiman says:

LOL – yes, I’m guilty of forgetting to put some groceries away! It makes you feel so brilliant doesn’t it? LOL Nice to know I’m not the only one who multi-tasks a little too much sometimes! :)

    Hugs,
    Holly

  18. Mom On The Run says:

Oy! That happens to me all the day – the other day I left the baby in the truck… Thank goodness it wasn’t a hot day!

  19. Jen @ One Moms World says:

LOL… yes I have did that before. TOO FUNNY.

I can’t wait to see your new project :)

  20. Christine says:

HeeHee! That happened to me the other day! I was going to make the girls a snack of a peanut butter sandwhich, and got way of track, when Lindsay brings me the bread!
I’d left the bread, and the peanut butter on the table.
I’m sure it’s happened to me more than once, but sad to say I don’t remember that far back.

  21. And Miles To Go.... says:

I can definitely feel you here–I usually end up getting everything done about five minutes before I go to bed–then it’s back to doing it again at 6 AM!!:)

If I had done that, I’d get a great big blah from my husband, especially if there is meat in there. No, no experience like that – YET.

I’m excited with your blog project. Good luck!
