Being Anonymous

October 28, 2008

I’m currently on a 3 day trip with a 36 hour layover in a great city. Normally, this would mean just one thing . . . SHOPPING! However, this time I decided to sleep in, get some of my pending reviews done, watch re-runs of Law & Order, and basically just veg out in my pjs all day.

Ahhhh . . . .

Eventually, I got hungry and decided to walk around the city to see what there was to eat. The great thing is that I felt no pressure to get made up or even have to put on make-up. After all, no one knows me here, right? So I just changed into some jeans, grabbed my sunglasses and iPhone, and I was out the door.

It was such a great feeling to walk around feeling anonymous. I didn’t know anyone and no one knew me. And I found that there really is a Starbucks on every corner!

Life is good!

What are you doing today?

Good for you!

I just got off of work, dyed my hair (bottle).
Later I see a nap in my future and maybe watching a volleyball game tonight.

I enjoy reading your blog and thought you might be interested in an upcoming invitation-only webinar for bloggers being held by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It will focus on ways you and your family can protect yourself against the flu, and will be held on December 2 from 2-3 p.m. EST. Please save the date and watch for your official invitation e-mail from hseitz at cdc dot gov.

No makeup is freeing, but for pure bliss, lose the bra!
Nobody knows you, right?

Glad you’re having some “down” time (we all need it from time-to-time).

now sadly I feel no pressure to dress up or wear make-up on a daily basis… but I’m pleased you had fun.

My day is coming to an end. We actually gave an old dresser a facelift today to use in my 2 year old’s room! Just taking it easy tonight! Enjoy anonymity!

i love flying by myself even though i’m going some place to visit someone. i feel anonymous like you described, even if it’s for a short plane trip. and to lounge around all day in my pj’s, reading blogs, and watching tv sounds heavenly =)

Today, Tuesday, I lay in bed feeling zonked out by the flu shot I got yesterday. I slept nine hours last, night, and then I took a nap today!

Anonyminity is great. Just over a year ago, when I made the move to Australia, it was an interesting feeling to know that no matter where I went, or what I did, I wouldn’t run into anyone I knew.

It changes your outlook, I think. Not caring about who is around or what these people around you might think allows you to be you. After all, it’s going to take a headline news story for your friends back home to find out.

Hey! I thought I saw you!!!! You really should be careful about wearing those colors together;)

Only kidding:)

I know that feeling and it is nice. Today we are sitting here in the warm house while the cool breezes whip around outside. Chili anyone?

No makeup? Oh no! A monster! Seriously though.. I think it’s sad to hear that you felt you had to be anonymous to go around without makeup.. Not sad on your part, but sad on the fact that women feel that must put makeup on to be presentable in the community. I’ll be looking forward to the post where you tell us about your day around your hometown without makeup and how it wasn’t as bad as you thought it’d be!
