The Happiest Place on Earth?

Why is it that no matter how many hours you spend at Disneyland, it’s never enough?

Yesterday was our Disneyland day and we arrived at the park bright and early. Like fools, we figured we’d get in a morning of rides and shows, go back to the hotel at lunchtime to rest, then go back later in the afternoon for the parade and fireworks show. However, thirteen hours later, we were still there. Even then, there were still things we didn’t get a chance to do. Unbelieveable!

And speaking of unbelieveable, while taking Girlie Girl to the restroom, I witnessed an altercation between this huge, bald guy who looked to be about 30 years old and a 12 year old girl. I don’t know what she did to him but as she passed by him, he stopped in his tracks, turned around, and went after her. When he caught up with her, he got in her face and started yelling, “What the f— is your problem!!!!” Next thing you know, a woman went up to him, threw her arms up and yelled, “What Brah? What’s your problem? You think you’re so tough yelling at a 12 year old girl?” The guy’s girlfriend was able to get him to walk away but the woman went after him yelling all kinds of things.

Isn’t this supposed to be the happiest place on Earth?

Maybe he heard “It’s a Small World After All” one too many times.

Have a great time on the remainder of your trip!

My husband and I were just talking last night about taking our girls to Disney in Orlando in about two years.

Wow, what a weirdo. But you know? I think it’s the STRESS of having fun. I mean, Disneyland is great, but costly, and I think people sometimes approach this type of vacation with gritted teeth - “I’m going to have fun if it kills me!” - sort of mentality.

And speaking as a parent of a 12 yr old/14 yr old, the little girl MIGHT have indeed something to prompt that sort of reaction. I’m just saying, kids that age - they ain’t that innocent. *grin* But then again, who’s the adult in this situation, you know? That guy probably scared that poor girl to death and I have to admit, if someone went mental like that on my son, we would most definitely have a problem. *smile*

Will you just LOOK at those precious girls’ expressions?! They’re all like, “Look at me! I’m a princess!” and “What in the world is going on?”, LOL. It looks/sounds like you’re having fun!! Can’t wait to hear/see more!

We ALWAYS do the midday break thing. We go back our hotel to eat lunch, take a nap, maybe take another shower to cool off. We read and/or watch television, then eat dinner before heading back to the parks for the evening and we stay for the Light Parade and/or fireworks. This was the only way we would make it through the four-five days. The kids always appreciated the breaks too. They got cranky walking around in the heat all day, and we grownups got our second wind that way.

The girls look adorable, although Baby Bug looks a bit apprehensive. Have you gone over to California Adventure yet? Do they still have the Bug’s Life ride?

I’m glad that woman went after the man. and totally loved how she called him out “You think you’re so tough yelling at a 12 year old girl?â€? I’m sure mr bigman wouldn’t have dared to go after someone his own size.

as for the break, we didn’t get one either. DD was having way too much fun to quit. We did do some of the indoor stuff during mid day though.

I never could understand why people would leave Disney in the middle of the day… We plan on taking breaks at the popsicle stands, in air conditioned shows and using the strollers (for our 1 and 5 year olds) as much as possible.

Hope you’re having fun, despite being tired!

The girls look precious precious.

I pretty much agree with everything Karen said.

People should learn to relax and just enjoy themselves when they are on vacation!

LOVE the pic!

lol…whenever we to go to Disney World in Orlando we blame it on the HEAT, because Lord it is oppressive down there. One time we were at EPCOT in June and my oldest, who at the time was 12, and my brother , who at the time was 23 got into a slap fest in Africa (they have “countries” as attractions). After, we joked about how many people would go home and watch their vacation video only to find they had “When Family Vacations Go Bad” as part of the entertainment.

What adorable little princesses you have! I think too much happiness gets on people’s nerves after a long day in the sun. Sounds like that guy was at his limit. 13 hours in the park? I don’t know if I could do that with a little one. You go girl!

We just returned today from 2 weeks at Walt Disney World. Dd cried herself to sleep tonight because she’d rather be back at WDW. Based on past history, she’ll cry herself to sleep every night for about a week. Poor thing.
Luckily we didn’t experience anything like you saw. Just had to deal with the typical “entitlement” of other visitors with line jumping and what not. Oh, and a housekeeper who used dd’s brush!!! ICK!!
P.S. Your tip about baby powder removing sand worked wonders!!!

Brings back memories . . . your girls look so cute and happy! :-) But I’m glad it was you there and not me. I used to live about 10 min. from Dis-mal-land, as I learned to call it. Every night, my neighbors and I sat in the hot tub at our apartment complex and watched the fireworks. That was fine. But everyone I knew wanted to visit and guess where they wanted me to take them . . . I’m still sick of the place and its 30 years later! :-)

Carnival of Family Life…

Everybody likes to talk about their family, especially if you have kids. Sit down, have a cup of coffee and enjoy the informative, funny and inspiring stories, insights and observations offered by the many gifted writers participating in this week’s ….

What’s funny is when we were there last I kept telling my husband that tag line could be the focus of a research project to prove how untrue it can be! LOL Sadly, so many parents are just short with their kids - I hate that. It’s supposed to be a fun place for everyone and it only takes one anger freak to ruin it. It’s what you make of it - for me and my kids it was the happiest place and time - too bad it’s not that way for everyone! So glad you got to go again!

Hugs,
Holly

Visiting Disney land only makes a kid happy but not husbands and wives or boyfriends and girlfrriends. Are you experiencing unhappy relationships??? If yes, then the answer is simple.Change your ATTITUDE not ALTITUDE.You may climb the highest mountain or travel the farthest land but if you dont change your attitude, you will remain unhappy.SIMPLICITY is the key to happiness!!!
