Legoland vs. Knotts Berry Farm

March 18, 2007

Which does your family prefer?

We’ve decided to take a family vacation in May to my favorite place . . . Disneyland! I think I’m more excited than Girlie Girl! They even have a High School Musical Pep Rally this season. That should be way cool!

Anyway, we’ll have an extra day in Anaheim and we thought we’d go to either Legoland or Knotts Berry Farm. I’ve never been to Legoland before and it’s been about 20 years since I’ve been to Knotts.

We can’t decide which one to visit. Any advice?

I love Knott’s Berry Farm, but I would say since you are already going to an amusement park I would go to Legoland. I hear it is amazing no matter how old you are! Not that I mean you are old! You know what I mean, don’t you?

My hubby and I went to Disneyland for our honeymoon! Another place that rocks no matter what your age!

Have a great time! Let us know what you decide!

Ive never been to either one, so Im not much help to you. Is it possible to go to both? Start the day early at one, spend a few hours, then go to the other? Im sure you will have fun no matter which you choose.

Awww, I was rooting for Disney WORLD ;). I haven’t been to either, but I love coasters, so if I had someone to watch the little one, I’d go to Knotts. My little guy would LOVE legoland tho ;).

Do the girls like to play with Legos? If so, maybe Legoland. LOL What a hard decision! :)

We live in Southern Cali, but have never been to Knotts or LegoLand. A lot of people around here seem to like LegoLand. Lots of things for kids of all ages. There’s actually a Southern California City Pass - I don’t know how much time you’ll have, but it’s $235 per person ($189 for kids) and includes a 3 day park hopper ticket to Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure Park, admission into Universal Studios, SeaWorld, and the San Diego zoo or Wild Animal Park. Anyway, here is the site… just a thought :) Have a fabulous time!!!

Sorry, but not having gone to either one, I have no personal preference! I will say that friends have told me that Legoland is great for younger kids, so perhaps your girls would really like it.

Legoland is kinda geared towards kids, and its great to see all the lego stuff! My kids had a blast there. Since you are already going to Disneyland I would say go to Legoland. Knotts in kinda the same park as Disneyland. (If your gonna be in Anaheim Knotts is way closer. Legoland will be about 90 mins away)

Hey… I can’t really add too much to the debate as I’ve never been to either place. But I’m checking in to find out about the results of the photo contest. I was on vacation last week and I can’t find a post about the winner in your archives. I’m on pins and needles Local Girl! :-)

I’ll email you the link.

We did Disney, Cali Disney & Sea World when we went to Orange County… holy smokes! when DD was 5 and now she’s almost 9! I can’t believe it’s been that long ago…seems like just last year. *sigh*
I agree with what the others here have told you though and it’s based on the recommendation of others (no personal experience) but Legoland tends to be geared toward the younger crowd and everyone with little ones raves about it.

Everyone also says to go to a Character Breakfast at Disney… I don’t think it’s worth the cost though…you can see the characters in the park (they list the times that they’re out) for your regular park admission…and besides the kids won’t eat the food at the breakfast anyway.

If you’re going to Cali Disney…the Bugs Life section has a bunch of rides geared toward the really little ones (Baby Bug’s age) that she’ll enjoy. Oh and she’ll like the boat ride that’s near the Mad Hatter’s…lemme look that one up for you…Storybook land Canal boats… I actually found a whole list of stuff for the little guys that she’ll love. DD really liked the Pooh Corner and meeting Pooh, Tigger & Eyeore…very cute pictures from there.

Hope you have a great time! I’ll be jealous as we get to spend our family vacation at a wedding with family who will be giving us guilt for not staying with them longer. :(

I haven’t been to Knott’s Berry Farm in probably 30 years (when I was about 2). But I still love looking of the picture with me having a really bad hair day being held by some Native American Indian in full gear. Classic photo. I vote for Knott’s Berry.

ROFL! I can just imagine that picture even though I have no idea what you look like. Strange, huh?

We are doing the 3-day Hopper pass for Disneyland and 1 day Knott’s Berry Farm. My family likes Knott’s Berry Farm, but I would love to go to Lego Land. So You’re going there after we get back. Our trip is in 41/2 weeks. Whoohoo! Then I go home to Hawai’i. I can hardly wait! :) This will be Kamalani’s first trip, so she’s getting excited. And to be with all her cousins is even better. Only her Mom will not make it. She ships out2 days before our trip. I won’t even see my baby girl before she deploys. :( How sad is that!

That is sad! There’s no way you can get home sooner?

I haven’t been to either one, but we went to Legoland in Germany and our kids really loved it at ages 5 and 7. I’m guessing it’s similar to the one in California.

I’m like you; I went to Knott’s about 20 years ago, and the thing that I remember most was the “oh my gosh I’m gonna die” ride where you plummet like 50 feet toward the ground. My cousin took her kids to Legoland recently and their whole family loved it. I guess I’m on the side of “young kids=>Legoland”…

Yes, it seems like Legoland may be better suited for my kids. They can go to Knotts when they get older.

I’m so jealous you’re so close to Legoland. We took the three kids to Legoland last April and let me tell you! That was THE BEST VACATION ever! We all loved loved Legoland and San Diego. It’s such a kid-friendly city, lots of things to do like Balboa Park (which we loved to hang out) and the San Diego Zoo.

I highly recommend it. We’ve never been to Knotts, so not sure.
