Aloha Friday – Week 21

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing heavy or too thought-provoking.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link below. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

Today’s question is:

What was your favorite toy as a child?

I really miss my olive green Easy Bake Oven. Who knew that cake batter cooked by a light bulb could taste so good?

BTW, thank you for all your candid comments to yesterday’s post regarding lurking. It was definitely an eye opener. Please be assured that I do treasure and read all your comments no matter how many I’m lucky to receive. :-)

I had a yellow Easy Bake oven, but my favorite toy, believe it or not, was a Magic 8 ball. I use to drive my sisters crazy with all of my zany questions.

I thought that you already asked this …or was that your favorite doll? Hummm

My favorite toy would have had to be my bike! My bike carried me and my best friend all over and we would take turns riding on the handlebars and chatting all over the place.

Pooh Bear…loved Pooh. And I still do–He sits on top of my armoir and if I were an honest woman (and I am) I’d admit that sometimes I just need to bring him down and sleep with him. xo

I never could get the Easy Bake oven to work – I think my dad must have incorrectly assembled it!

My favorite toy that I remember was a hand-me-down teddy bear. It wasn’t my lovey, but I took it lots of places!

    Tiffany says:

Of course, I played with the Barbies and the My Little Ponies. But the thing I remember playing with the most was my bike. I would go outside for hours and ride my bike up and down the street; pretending I was racing, or hurrying to save someone, or getting away from the “bad guys” or just seeing how fast I could go. I grew up in Texas, so the weather usually permitted this most of the year.

it would be a toss up between my all my barbie dolls and their paraphenalia and my bike. like others wrote, not only did my bike take me to places, it took me away from home. it was my escape and my wings.

    common mom says:

Hands down, my bike was my favorite “toy.” My brother and I spent most our summers home alone – starting when he was 8 and I was 5. We lived in a small town (about 900 people) about 8 miles away from “the city” (about 35000 people) :-) We would ride our bikes around all. day. long – to the school to play baseball, to the woods to climb trees – to friends’ houses to play – around and around and around playing cops and robbers. I STILL love my bike!

    Melissa says:

My favorite toy was a Barbie jeep with horse trailer… and, of course, the horse. I wasn’t extremely fond of Barbie herself, but I did love that jeep!!

  25. 25
    Melissa says:

Oh, and the best thing about the jeep – it was tan. Not the traditional pink… I hated pink as a kid… :)

    donetta says:

O.K. this is going to sound very strange to some but…Well here it is. When I was a child we were VERY poor. I was the last of eight children. I loved nature and still do. So my very favorite toy… was bug races. Cute little garden beetles lined up, or as my Beloved husband recently told the children …You make a large circle and then a small circle in the center. Then you place the little critters in the center of the smaller center circle and see who’s critter gets out of the large circle first. You asked! :) I love gardening to…I guess that figures. :) I do not remember many toys that were manufactured.

I loved my trampoline, we often slept out under the stars in the summer. I can still do the flips if I really try. When we buy a home we will definitely have to get one, not for the kids for me…lol!

I would have to say my favorite toy as a child was Barbies. I could play for days on end. And when I didn’t have cool furniture and stuff I would make my own. A hand towel made great furniture. A tupperware bowl doubled as a swimming pool and roller skates made for an interesting car. I ven used LP album covers that opened like a book for walls for my house. Who needs a Townhouse when you can have pre-decorated walls from the 50′s. LOL

Mahalo for creating a fun meme!
Wishing you a scent-sational holiday weekend!
