Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link below. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

My question is:

Are you more of a book smart or common sense person?

Can I say neither? No, seriously I suppose I would say common sense. I definitely do not consider myself particularly book smart. :)

  2. 2

Common sense I’d say. Though some days I’ll admit I possess neither.

    Heather says:

I think I’m a bit of both and a bit of neither! Ha! I am pretty book smart. I am just kind of into education and learning things. But, I also prize more literal thinking or common sense over technical thinking.

  4. 4
    Jennifer says:

I would say a mixture of both with maybe a slight leaning to book smart.

  5. 5
    Anissa says:

I would have to say common sense. My oldest is book smart poor baby don’t have no common sense.

  6. 6

I’d have to say I’m a mix of both :)

  7. 7

Definitely book smart. I wish I was more street smart savvy though

    Cathi says:

    Common sense!!
I can’t balance your checkbook but I can help you survive on a deserted island. :)

  9. 9
    Kari A. says:

Gosh that is a hard question. I would have to say I am a pretty even mixture of both.

  10. 10
    Hillary says:

I like to think I’m a good combination of the two, but I’m probably more book smart. Which is ironic because I get totally annoyed with people when they show no common sense.

  11. 11
    Toni says:

More of a common sense on most things though on a few things book smart :)

  12. 12
    Sarah says:

I like to think I’m a little of both.

  13. 13
    Diane says:

i think i’m a pretty good mixture of half and half! except when it comes to having a sense of direction… i got no sense where that’s concerned!

  14. 14
    Michelle M says:

I would say both, but if I have to pick one, I guess common sense. Great question!

  15. 15

great question. one i’ve thought about not only for myself, but for others too.

i think i have more common sense, but have the capacity for more book smarts if i had worked at it when i was younger. it’s not so lopsided as i’ve seen in others.

  16. 16
    Becca says:

I really want to be conceited and say both. I try to keep up with current events and what not (book smarts) but I also tend to have common sense. I definitely think some people have both, some only have one, and some unfortunate people have neither!

    Nabeel says:

I wanted to be a common sense person but I should admit that I’m a book smart :$

I am definitely more book smart, I dont’ completely lack common sense but there are a lot of things I know nothing about. Luckily my husband is more street smart than book smart so we work well together.

I am definitely more of a common sense type guy!

  23. 23
    Eileen says:

…. gosh book smart. I keep up with the comment sense by reading about others misfortunes in the newspaper or dear abby. I try to not repeat their mistakes.

  24. 24
    Angie says:

I’m definitely a common sense person.

  25. 25

I’d have to say “book smart,” while my husband is definitely “common sense smart.” What can I say . . . opposites DO attract!

Both, although I have forgotten A LOT of my book smart. If you don’t use it….

    mysuestories says:

Book smart. Definitely! But what I’ve learned from books has taught me a ton of common sense!!!!

  31. 31

Book smart…but with a pretty significant memory problem which sometimes makes me appear as dumb as a stump. :-P

  32. 32
    Nina says:

I am common sense for sure. Never was good at learning from books. To this day I have to do things or apply them before I understand them.

  33. 33

I’m absolutely more of a “common sense” kind of gal. Book smarts are great, but if you lack common sense, you’re in bad shape. (I wish I could say “both” as if I were a genius just brimming with common sense. Hmph)

  34. 34
    Kari says:

I like to think that I’m both, but, probably, I’m more book smart.

  35. 35
    angela says:

I would say book smart but being married to my husband who is street smart we are a great couple

Good question -I would say common sense rules for me!

  38. 38

Great question! I’m a little of both!

  39. 39
    Rita says:

I hope I’m a little of each, but I do tend towards being book smart – I hope it’s from the Bible!

  40. 40

Both but more common sense for sure!

  41. 41
    Toni says:

Common sense all the way! Aloha ya’ll…

  42. 42

Definately Common sense. I don’t read much so I just have smarts lol Have a wonderful weekend :)

  43. 43
    *Just Jen* says:

I would say that I am both. But, you definitely can’t learn common sense or street smarts from a BOOK, that’s for SURE! ;)

  44. 44
    Jenn says:

I am probably more common sense… I read alot of books and so I know alot but dont consider myself book smart…

  45. 45
    Pamela says:

I thank god everyday that I was blessed with commen sence, great question

  46. 46
    Amy says:

I do use some of my common sense most of the time. But then at times I do use some of my book smart. I usually can go with my common sense though.

  47. 47
    Brandi says:

I would have to say street smart.

  48. 48
    pam says:

I have common sense, or at least I think I do!

  49. 49
    Vicki says:

I’d have to say both. I loved school and have always been eager to learn something new and I love trivia. But I use book smarts less than common sense. I think we all use common sense many times everyday.

  50. 50

I’d like to think I’m a healthy mix of the two. ;)
