Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.
In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.
If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link below. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!
My question is:
What do you think about Chris Brown removing his name from the ballot of the Kids Choice Awards?

[...] here is this week’s Aloha Friday [...]
I absolutely do! He’s obviously no role model. Our children should be taught that there are consequences for their actions. I’m disgusted and sad that Rihanna has picked back up with him. Like it or not, she’s sending a message to all the girls that look up to her that such behavior is acceptable.
I read that he actually withdrew his name on Wednesday. I totally agree with this decision.
I do agree, but it’s a moot point because he withdrew his name. It was the right thing for him to do.
Everyone seems to be covering this story. When you are in the public eye children are going to look at you as a role model like it or not.
If he didn’t remove himself there were plenty of angry people who were trying to get him booted out so either way it was going to happen.
you would think that would be an obvious choice for nickelodeon. i was really disappointed they didn’t. i heard today that chris brown took himself off, which in opinion, makes nickelodeon look even worse for not doing it first.
Of course. I also hope that he’ll get help. I’ve been hearing about teen abuse rising. It just makes me sad but I am glad to know that he did finally do the right thing. Wish Nickelodeon had done it first.
I didn’t know he had but I am glad he did. Though I don’t think that proves he has good judgement… just good PR people.
This is the first time I’ve heard of this. I think it’s a good idea after all, he wouldn’t seem fit as a role model for the kids because of the incident he was involved it.
No comment as I am not following the story. *sorry*
I really don’t know much about it, but from what I’ve heard I agree that it’s a good thing.
I totally agree with this decision. He is no role model and he needs to pay for his actions!
It’s about time!
i think taking him off the ballot was a good idea. but they should also take katy pery’s ‘i kissed a girl’ song off too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I believe he had to..
I think it would have sent a stronger message if Nickelodeon had done it.
he did the right thing. hes obviously showing kids it ok to beat on a woman when its absolutely wrong!
I think Nick should have removed him, but I was glad to hear he removed himself.
I have to admit that I have not really followed the story much. From the little I have read/heard I think it was the right choice.
I didnt know he did, but I’m glad he did with all the controversy around him. I hoe he gets some help for his anger!
Good choice!
he should because he hasn’t set a good example for today’s youth or for men in general
I am glad he did, but I still think he is pretty sleazy.
I am glad that he did so. That is NO role model for kids!
I’m not surprised that he pulled his name. It would have been really stupid for him not to, with all the people who wanted him out!
I agree that he should not be thought of as someone a young man should look up to as well as the young woman involved did not send good message as well
glad he did, but i wish this story would get out of the news already.
the right thing to do!
I think he made the right decision.
I agree with his decision. I don’t have ill feelings towards him, and I hope he can one day get his career back on track. I hope he gets the help that he needs and doesn’t have another incident like this.
I’m not following whats going on..so I dont really care!
I think it was a smart thing to do. He should not be considered as a role model for kids!
YES – he needed to do that. Although a man should be assumed innocent until he is proven guilty in a court of law ??? . . .well, things don’t look to good for him in this case and at this time, there is no way he should be out there collecting a “Kid’s Choice Award”!
I think it was the right thing to do.
I am very glad that he did it. It may not have been his choice (PR people??) but it hopefully says somehting to the kids.
I am disappointed that Rhianna didn’t wait a lot longer and insist on counselling before getting back together.
I don’t know much about Chris Brown or the kid’s awards. From the little I know I wouldn’t let my kids listen to or watch him so I would say it’s good that he removed his name.
I think it was the right thing to do. Kids Choice Awards participants are there to entertain as well as SET AN EXAMPLE for our children and as of late, Chris Brown is not setting a very good one.
I do not know who Chris Brown is.
It was the right thing for him to do…for once, eh?
I think he did the right thing. If he didn’t voluntarily remove himself, he should’ve been “uninvited” by the folks at Nickelodian.
[...] and look forward to the weekend, in Hawaii and blog land anyway. As you should know by now, over at An Island Life, Kailani decided that on Fridays she would take it easy on posting and ask a simple question for [...]
I think if he didn’t withdraw his name it would have been very very bad for his reputation (as if it’s not in shambles already). What bothers me more is (from what I heard briefly on the news last night) apparently a lot of teenagers think it was “Rhianna’s fault” – wtf?
I agree with it. He didnt set a very good example with his actions.
I am happy that he did it. My 7 year old son has heard the news coverage concerning him & Rihanna. He said “No one should listen to his music anymore. He did a bad bad thing.” I have to say…I can’t blame him for feeling that way.
I’m glad he did it. He is not a good role model and at least he was able to see that.
I don’t know much about Chris Brown or the Kids Choice Awards so I can’t really answer this question. Sorry.
He did the right thing. I think Nick should’ve stood up and removed him from the nominations in the first place instead of saying they were leaving it up to the kids.
[...] Friday, which means that over at An Island Life it is time for Aloha [...]
I think in light of all the controversy it’s a good thing.
I think he should and maybe go away for a bit and do some image revamping.
