Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.
In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.
If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link below. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!
Today’s question is:
What is the oldest item of clothing that you own?

Hmmmm….
I have a couple of vintage pieces that I bought at a second hand store…. but I don’t think they count.
And I have a baby dress, that I wore for my first “photo”, now dressing a stuffed rabbit… but I don’t think that counts…
Hmmmm…….
I have two blouses that I bought between 1983 and 1985 and three pair of shoes from the same time period. I still wear them now and then.
I gave away a bunch of clothes from 20 years or so ago about 6 months ago – realized I’m never going to get into them again :S
My oldest piece of clothing would probably something from when I was in HS freshman year.
I don’t have alot of old clothes anymore since I gained and lost so much weight when I was pregnant and then after. But I do have some old jackets that I had in high school, maybe even middle school. And for a long time I had these soccer socks that still fit me from 5th grade.
Oops I didn’t mean to sign up, I forgot to play—AGAIN! But I can answer this–I’d say my wedding dress.
I actually have quite a few items of clothing that I have owned for more than 7 years (so from my 20s) and they still look good because they were quality pieces and are rarely worn. I can be a bit faddish with clothes. I fall in love with an item and then I might wear it to death, then one day I’ll see somethign old and think “that’s so lovely” and wear it for the first time in a year.
But my oldest item of clothing would be cut off denim jeans that were full length Levi 501s before I split the knee. These are my backpacking or holiday shorts and I ahve owned them since I was 21. That would be 16 years now. Amazing huh?
They’re a bit tight in the waist since Bunny came along, but I WILL GET COMFORTABLY BACK INTO THEM!

I still have things from 1988, when I was 18. Wait, I do have older items–my mom gave me some “keepsake” clothing items from when I was a toddler.
Thought of something else–my Grandpa’s fighter pilot jacket from WWII (he flew P51′s).
I think it would have to be an old pair of pajamas. I can’t seem to let them go. hehehe
I actually own a sweater that I wore in high school. I am now 70 years old so you do the math. It is a red V neck long sleeved orlon sweater. I haven’t worn it in years and years but I loved that sweater and can’t bear to part with it.
I actually thought of something else. I have a baby dress from when I was a baby. So it would be 70 years old!!!
Many thanks for getting some time to discuss this, I feel strongly about it and adore understanding much more with this topic. If doable, as you acquire expertise, can you mind updating your blog with far more info? It’s extremely helpful to me
