Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday. In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too.

What celebrity do you admire and why?

My favorite is Ricky Martin because he does many charitables.

Good question… that’s a tough call. I admire those who stand up for their beliefs regardless of public opinion. I just recently saw a documentary on PBS about Vaccinations and Autism. I have to say I admire Jenny McCarthy… not because I necessarily agree with everything she says, but because she doing all she can to serve her cause and to help children with autism and their parents.

I really don’t admire any one celebrity. I do like when ,as Roxanne said, they take their status & do good for others.

Believe it or not I kind of admire Ryan Seacrest. That kid has come up so fast. First he was doing American Idol with another co-host. Then he went alone, then his own show, then a radio program, he is now hosting the New Years Eve with Dick Clark. I think he’s more or less the Dick Clark of the 21st Century. Dick Clark is another icon I truly admire also.

I can’t really think of any one celebrity that I admire. Mostly the ones who seem ‘down to earth’ though, who don’t take their fame for granted and who try to use their status to help others as much as they can.

I just love Reece Witherspoon. She is never in the tabloids for doing anything wild, has been acting since a child and really devotes herself to her family. A real class act.

I admire Brad Pitt. I love the movies he is in and he just seems like a cool guy to be around. And for some reason while his wife’s seem to be in the news, he isn’t. He gets mentioned but they seem to like to be in the news for him which is awesome.

Queen Latifah is a fascinating woman. I admire Queen Latifah for her confidence, talent and what I see as a lively personality.

I admire Ellen DeGenerres because she is honest and caring.
I admire Jennifer Aniston because she is a strong woman. The media really tried to make her seem all sad but she prevailed.

Admire? Hmmm I dont’ get into celebrities much. So I’ll just say I like the guy who plays HOUSE Hugh Lorie and that’s because he’s HOUSE and makes me laugh my head off every time I watch the show.

I don’t really admire celebrities, but I admire certain things about some of them, like the ones who can remain grounded and sane with all the trappings of being famous. I can’t think of anyone in particular right now, though!

I’m not sure I admire any ‘celebrities’. I admire some musicians, actors etc but I tend to think of celebs as people who are famous for no particular reason and I really don’t admire that!

I would have to say it’s a toss-up between Sandra Bullock and Jennifer Aniston – in spite of what their husbands put them through, they’ve remained classy and strong.

I don’t think I really admire any celebrity. If I had to choose I think I would go with Oprah. That woman is forever evolving and shedding light on various topics all the time.

Not really sure who I would pick. There are so many that really work hard. Right now I admire Holly Robinson Peete for her book and all that she does in a nice manner for Autism awareness.

This one was a hard question for me as I am just a cable news junkie and don’t watch much other than that on tv or watch movies. The only one I can think of is Oprah. She appears to be very down to earth, honest and giving.

I don’t admire that many actors although I do have my favorites – Sandra Bullock, Katherine Hepburn, Sean Connery.

Oprah. She had a recent guest on her show who showed her that binge eating is all about not feeling our sacred space and trying to replace it with food. She openly admit that’s why she has been yo-yoing with her weight all these years and it’s not about running 3 miles a day. Did I hear somebody say halelujah? oooops….that was me!

There are a few that I admire, but I’m going to have to say Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine-Of course she’s not a CELEBRITY celebrity, but I just love her because she’s completely unique and just has the best aura I’ve ever seen

Definitely Ellen Degeneres – she is so generous and genuine – the REAL deal and she’s made an amazing name for herself despite adversity and used that name to make a change in the world and help fight for the causes she cares about.
