Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.
In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

My question is:
Would you rather be the smartest person or the richest person?
This was an actual question that was asked in Kacie’s class this week. Surprisingly, she chose to be the smartest person because she felt she could use her brain to make more money.

If you have brain power, many other items are possible in life. Money can not buy you a brain.

Smarts……I think without smarts, the richest person in the world could lose it all.

I would pick rich, because if I was the smartest person I wouldn’t enjoy as much… Reality TV wouldn’t be as funny and I might just get bored too easily. If I was the richest person I could pay advisers to help me.

I’d much rather be the smartest person. Then I’d know how to make lots of money quickly. If I was rich but not very smart, I might lose it all and then I’d be both broke and not so smart.

Well, this reminds me of King Solomon’s prayer in the bible (1Ki 3:9-14) when he asked for an “understanding mind” to rule his people. God was happy with him in that he prayed for wisdom to take care of his people instead of a long life or riches for himself, or death to his enemies. Because of this God made him the smartest man that ever lived. He also gave Solomon what he did not ask for, riches and honor. So, because it is pleasing to God, I would choose to be smart/wise for the benefit of others and to serve God.

Now that is a great question! I would probably rather be the richest person cause you ignorance is bliss and being rich you can always pay someone else to do the thinking!

Smart=lots of pressure to always be smart.
Rich=lots of pressure to always be rich.
I like being mediocre! But a few extra bucks wouldn’t hurt.

I think I would want to be the world’s smartest person, that way I could help make the world a better place. I must say that being the richest person is a bit of a temptation though, you could also do a lot of good and yet it wouldn’t be such hard work!

I am pretty sure you have to be smart to get and STAY rich. But, if I had to choose I guess I’d pick the money and then I’d just buy some nice smart people to hang out with.

I think I’d like to be the smartest, that way I could figure out how to be the richest. If I was the richest but not intelligent, I might not make the best decisions and lose everything.

My initial reaction is smart, but thinking about it really, being the smartest person in the world would come with huge pressure and a huge amount of responsibility. Like those kids geniuses that graduate college at 11 years old? And being the richest person in the world, who could you trust? I don’t think either would lead to a very happy life. I guess middle of the road doesn’t sound so bad in comparison, lol. Still, either way, think of all the people you could help. That would be awesome.
I suppose if I really had to choose, I’d chose smart.

What a question! Of course I would RATHER be rich, but the wiser choice is to be smart, right? Well, smart people most often reject God becuase they are “too smart” for that. I would rather have Jesus, so I am going to say rich.

Ok here is what I put on my blog post:
I’d rather be the richest person so I could enjoy more out of life. In my down time I would read and travel to learn new things so I could also be smart but not the smartest. Too much pressure and responsibility goes with being a genius.

If you’re the richest person in the world,you can lose all your wealth by making stupid decisions. But if you’re the smartest person alive, you make wise decisions & accumulate your wealth in no time.

I’d rather be rich… I like to think I’m fairly smart (I *hope* I’m fairly smart!), and that hasn’t gotten me too far. But money can open doors!
