Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.
In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

On Friday? Are you kidding? MEXICAN food, of course! Our favorite restaurant near the office is oddly named: Brianna’s Mexican Cafe. Go figure. There is a cactus painted on the window with the names Breanna, Emily, and Stephanie on the branches. I always refer to it as “Flora, Fauna, & Meriweather’s Mexican Cafe.”
Doesn’t matter what you call it, the food is delicious.

HA! I just realized I spelled “Brianna” two different ways. See how confusing that is when you’re talking about a Mexican restaurant? What happened to Juanita, Consuela, Margarita, Chila, et al.? Who knows!

Lunch? Hmmm. How about its 6PM in Hawaii and I just had dinner, I bought me and the kids McDonald’s, had a craving… I have been wanting McDonald’s for the last few days, I always get a crispy chicken sandwich.

Given that part of my Aloha Friday talks about food from my youth, there’s this incredible Greek restaurant near where my parents live. Visiting them always means a visit there and just the thought of it gets me hungry for their marinated chickpeas (marinated in onions, oil and some wonderful set of secret spices that I’d love the recipe for!), Spanakopita (spinach pie) and Eggplant Gyros (thin slices of fried eggplant topped with lettuce, tomato and yogurt sauce served on a pita)! Insert Homer Simpson drool noise here. Definitely Good Eats!

Mmmm. . . The Hydra, a quaint tasty little restaurant in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Ooo, I would totally go to this new Vietnamese restaurant in town. It’s called Spring Lotus and I’ve been once and it was yummy so I want to go again!

If I were offered lunch, I think I would go to my favorite Chinese restaurant and order sweet n sour chicken with pork fried rice. MMMMMM! That gets me hungry thinking about it!

There isn’t one in my area, but I’d love to go to 5 Guys. The best and freshest burgers and fries anywhere! We always eat there when we visit our daughter in VA. They’ve expanded to Detroit and that’s only a 90 minute drive – still too far for lunch.
