Aloha Friday #103

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link below. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

My question is:

What was the last nice thing you’ve done for someone else?

Comment Spotlight by Design it Chic: I let someone cut in front of me at the grocery store line the other day! And it wasn’t even a pregnant lady, an old lady, or a sweet child.. it was a grown up with fewer items than me in his cart:) He looked strange at me .. showing me the “what-are-you-doing-crazy-alien-lady?-why-are-you-letting-me-in front-of-you?” look.. but i was glad i actually did smth for someone i didn’t know:) Aloha!

I watched my friends two kids all day on a Saturday so she could spend the day with her husband for his birthday. She planned a surprise for him.

Hmmm…our oldest son is working out of state for three weeks. We bought him a round trip plane ticket so he can fly home and surprise his wife at her surprise birthday party.
I think however, the nicest things we can do for others are things from the heart that are kept quiet. :)

Today, I took several of the magazines I subscribe to and gave them to my aunt to put in the waiting room at the doctors office she works at…
I know it isn’t much, but it gives them something to read and it also somewhat recycles.

Hmmm. I guess the nicest thing I have done is help my best friend get a headstone for her son from a wonderful charity. I found them. I urged her to contact them and I had hope and prayed a lot.

Does cooking, cleaning and laundry count?

The b/f had the flu and I took care of him. It was like really having a 3rd child, he was such a baby. But I did it without complaining at all lol.

Oh and last week i took a truck full of clothes and toys to the local pantry :)

I have been taking my husband lunch to his work. He barely ever takes a lunch break so I have been taking the time to bring him some. I don’t usually have a huge grand gesture of kindness but I do display several small acts of kindness. I think the small ones can get overlooked sometimes.

Kailani, Sometimes I’m not feeling like I’ve done anything nice for anyone in particular, but I guess when I prepared a gourmet meal for my husband and taken his mommy for a drive and written a post to inspire someone who might be feeling down, or sent gifts from Hawaii to my family & friends in the mainland I’ve done something nice. Your site is amazing and I’m wondering how did you learn all of this?

Yesterday morning we got all the way to my son’s school and found out that he hadn’t brought his backpack! So I drove another 30 minutes each way to go back home and pick it up so he wouldn’t get demerits for being unprepared to class. I ended up driving a total of almost 3 hours yesterday going to school, going back home, going back to school and then doing it all over again in the afternoon.

I’ve always been nice and friendly, and I’m always honest but careful with my opinions especially about other people. and I few friends actually rely on me if they need an honest to goodness opinion about themselves. I think that’s a nice thing I do for other people, that i know I have been appreciated with. But then, this is really a tough question! Maybe I should ask people about this …
