One of the things I have the hardest time with is planning meals. I have such high ambition of trying something new every week and even scour the cookbooks with recipes I think my family will enjoy. However, when it comes time to cook I usually refer back to the same ‘ol dishes. I knew I needed help.
Along came A Month of Meals eBook by Jamie Ussher.
From the site: “Are you ready to save money every month on your grocery budget? How about giving you more time with your family? Grocery shopping, planning, and cooking less? Discover how you can easily save hundreds on grocery bills, reduce stress at dinnertime, and have family meals together on a nightly basis!”
This ebook contains topics such as quick and easy recpies for the entire month, shopping lists, ingredients you should always have in your kitchen, how to save money when grocery shopping, how to eat healthier, and links to more helpful resources.
One of our family’s favorite recipes was the Vegetable Chowder. I make a mean Corn Chowder myself but I liked the idea of adding in other vegetables, too. It’s a great way to get my girls to eat healthy without even realizing it.
However, for me the best part were the reciepes that I could make ahead of time and freeze. Since I’m not always home and DH does not cook, these came in really handy. All he had to do was defrost and heat. Easy! Plus, this way I know my girls are getting a good homecooked meal in the process.
This meal plan really worked for me. I didn’t use it on a daily basis but it did give me some great suggestions on how to introduce new dishes to my family. It’s a great tool for busy families!
