The Secret Mountain Books

One of our nightly routines is to read a book before going to bed. We feel it fosters a love of books and it’s also a great way to bond with the girls and wind down from a hectic day. That’s why we’re always thrilled for the opportunity to review new children’s books.

From the site: “The Secret Mountain is dedicated to the creation of children’s books, videos and audio recordings of the highest quality. Our main focus is to produce and publish stories and music that encompass the talents of songwriters, storytellers, singers, illustrators and animation artists alike.”

We received 3 books to review: A Duck in New York City, Dream Songs Night Songs from Belgium to Brazil, & Down at the Sea Hotel. Each book is accompanied by a music CD featuring original songs that are sure to become new family hits. The best part is that the book also includes lyrics to these songs so that everyone can sing-along. We especially liked the illustrations because they were colorful and very abstract. It really helped to keep the girls attention.

Our favorite out of these three books was A Duck in New York City. It’s about a little duck with big dreams of performing his ducky dance on Broadway. He encounters skeptics, bad weather, & traffic along the way but his heart keeps telling him, “Yes, I can!” What a great message to teach our children!

Win it!

I have a copy of Down at the Sea Hotel to give away to one lucky winner! The accompanying music CD features amazing artists such as Neil Young, Billy Joel, Carole King, Don Henley, Tom Waits, & Nanci Griffith. To enter:

  • Stop by The Secret Mountain before midnight, Nov 22nd and view all their great books.
  • Then come back and mention in comments which one is your favorite. That’s it!
  • A random winner will be selected and notified on Nov 23rd.
  • The winner will then have 3 days to claim their prize.

To earn extra entries, you may do one or all of the following. Each one counts as an extra ticket but you must leave a separate comment for each one.

This giveaway is open to everyone world-wide. Good luck!
