What are Emotes?
Emotes are 12 cyber-beings with human-like emotions that live inside the internet. In their land of Emotia, each character possesses a unique power that corresponds to their distinctive personalities. They were developed as a learning tool to help children better understand and handle their emotions.
When I first visited their site I thought these little creatures looked odd. However, I guess that’s just part of their charm because when they showed up at our door my girls fell in love. And I have to admit that they’ve grown on me, too.
We had the opportunity to review a few of their products: Jumpi 10 Plush, several 2.5″ figurines, and a few hard cover books.
When Baby Bug first saw Jumpi she immediately claimed him as her own and now she sleeps with him every night. He kind of scares me when I unexpectantly come across him because he’s just so different from the other stuffed animals on her bed. However, that’s what makes him so great! I love how Emotes have broadened my girls’ horizons!
What I like best are the books. They’re easy enough for Girlie Girl to read on her own and when you get to the end they talk about the feelings that were highlighted in the story. For example, in Jumpi Goes to Camp, Jumpi is afraid to go to camp because he’s never been to one before. Of course, everything turns out great in the end. At the end of the book one of the points highlighted is, “Being afraid is nothing to be embarrassed about. Don’t keep your fears a secret. Instead, talk about them with your friends and family.” What a great way to help kids understand their feelings!
