Congratulations!

Do you or did you massage your baby?
I never really thought about it but looking back I realize that I did give my girls little massages whenever we had tummy time, while they slept, or just whenever I held them. At the time I wasn’t thinking of techinique or the benefits to my baby, it was just a way a feeling closer to them.
Well, now there’s a DVD out called BabyBabyOhBaby: Bonding With Your Brilliant & Beautiful Baby Through Infant Massage.
From the site: “BabyBabyOhBaby is an entertaining and informative introduction to infant massage, providing a step by step guide with chapters devoted to each part of the body, easy to follow demonstrations, and real world examples of mothers and fathers practicing these ancient techniques with their own babies.”
Even though most of the examples were geared toward younger children, I tried some of the technique on 2 year old Baby Bug. I thought she wouldn’t stay still long enough for me to really review this DVD but I was wrong. I’m not sure if it was the massaging or all the cute babies on the screen but she loved it! I really liked the step-by-step instructions that really helped me to follow along even when I couldn’t always watch was going on. But above all else, I found the experience rewarding because not only did it strengthen my bond with Baby Bug but it also gave me 45 minutes of calm in my usually chaotic daily routine.
BabyBabyOhBaby sells for $26.

My kids and I had lots of “face” time. My youngest still gets lots of one on one since he’s only 2 1/2 and not potty trained yet. We chit chat when he’s getting his diaper changed, and we play on the bed for a while when he’s done. He’s a snuggly little guy, and loves to cuddle. I think his joy is a manifestation of all of the time we’ve shared, and the time his brothers and sisters have shared with him.
So yes, massage is a good thing. He has loved having his feet massaged since he was born. He used to twiddle his toes in utero! He’s gotta be the best loved baby ever!
Both my kids love when I massage their back and it helps them calm down when bedtime is approaching as well as creats a stronger bond between us. Its a great way to spend quiet time with them.
Kids (and dads LOL !!) always love having special cuddles time and being interested in seeing the babies on TV helps to keep their interest for longer which means extra cuddles and peace & quiet for mommy - that has to be a good thing, especially just before bedtime !!!

I think it’s a great way for the baby to feel loved and safe.

Not only does it feel nice for the baby - but it’s a great bonding time! The attention is just on baby - relaxing and making good eye contact.
And I subscribe!
I think one of baby massaging’s great benefits is that it gives your baby the sense of belongingness and safety. It’s also a perfect way for moms (like me) and babies to bond.
Physically, massaging also provides a certain kind of warmth that lulls a baby to sleep.
PS. I’m also subscribed to your blog feed.
thanks.
There are so many benefits to massage! I love the bonding time that I can have with my daughter and it is really relaxing and therapeutic for me as well! m_huston(at)hotmail(dot)com

I think it makes a bond even stronger between the two of you.not too mention it just feels good..lol.I mostly raised our 3 year old grandson and from an infant i would massage him and sing or hum to him.Now he is 3 and he will still come up and lay down and ask me to rub his back.He loves it.His mom says the sun rises and falls on me in his opinion..

You can bond with your baby.
I love Infant Massage. So relaxing for baby AND momma. I did it with BOTH of my daughters and now place these kits on my custom diaper cakes WHENEVER I get the chance. The benefits are incredible and I wish more pediatricians would encourage this practice. Any new mom or expecting mom should do this at least twice a week (once a day is better!). A great mellow CD….and just you and your baby. Bonding, relaxing, healthy……just do it!
A massage has a claming effect.
It not only relaxes the baby but it can help relax you! Very nice.
Thank you.
I regret i didnt do it with my toddler..but i didnt do a lot of things that i know more about now that he’s not a tiny baby anmore! I think it is VERY relaxing and also a great bonding time and i cant wait to do it with this next baby!
A couple of the things about infant massage that I think are wonderful are just the closeness and touch between parent and child. The time allows undivided attention, focus and love. You are close to your baby and can look in one another’s eyes. Not only do I think it is relaxing and a safe feeling for them — but somehow, in that time spent, I think it makes the parent grow an even greater love for their baby. Thanks for the chance to win!
It is a great way to bond with your baby and let him/her know they are loved!

to bond with the baby
You can bond with your baby.
NICE PIC
Skin to skin contact is good for both people to feel loved
I would say the bonding! It helps bonding with baby and parent!
I used basic massage on my children when they were little. Now, at 20 & 15, they still come for the “hands-on”. My niece is due in April and I would love to gift a technique like this for her to use on her baby.
I found the infant massage that I did with my daughter really helped her when she was gassy and uncomfy!
I’ve massaged all three of my kids. It really helped (helps) to relax them. they seemed (seem) to sleep better at night when I massage them.
I think that the bonding between parent and baby is the biggest benefit.

I strongly feel that massage is instrumental in retaining that connection with your baby. Touch is so important and I feel that these days it is becoming less and less common. I’m happy to see dvd’s like babybabyohbaby on the market encouraging parents to connect with their children physically.

I think one of baby massaging’s great benefits is that it gives your baby the sense of belongingness and safety. Thank you.
Infant massage is a special time for bonding, it also helps to soothe fussy babies and if you start early you can use massage even when they get older to soothe them.
I’d think it would be important to have instruction to keep the baby safe.
When I child is shown love and compassion from the start, they will be more likely to show it to others as adults.
My brother is a massage therapist and for each of my sister’s baby’s births, he has come to the hospital and massaged them. It is cool to see them all bunched up in their fetal positions at first and then when he’s finished, they are so relaxed and stretch clear out. I want to continue doing massage for my little one (my bro lives far away =( ), so this book would be awesome.
Touch is such an important way to bond and soothe. And esp. in a society where we try so hard NOT to touch each other, it’s good to teach our children at a young age the benefits and joys of loving touch.
it helps them relax and is good for bonding.
Wow there are sooo many benefits!! We actually offer infant massage at my work and hold classes on it! But they are pricey and I would rather do it in the comfort of my own home! I think the best benefit is that quality time spend with you and your child!!
Babies that have regular massages are less whiny than babies that don’t get massages.

Thanks!!
Great for bonding!
Baby massage really helps if your little one suffers from allergies. It helps to sooth them as well as help their bodies process the allergens.
The importance of contact!
I like that infant massage encourages bonding.
Probably the most important reason to massage your baby is that it reduces the risk of SIDS. It also increases circulation!
what a great way to stimulate and bond with your baby!

I am very interested in trying massage with our baby due in February. I think it will help her maintain flexibility and gain muscle tone as she grows.

My little guy loves his massages, and so do I! It gives us special time just before he goes to bed, and really seems to calm him! I just went off instinct, and it would be great to have an actual demonstration of how to massage each baby part!!
