Congratulations!
In honor of Earth Day, PBS will air an Earth Day-themed episode of the animated preschool series, “Sid the Science Kid” entitled, “The Dirt on Dirt.” This episode will air April 22 on the popular PBS KIDS preschool destination, an educational, hosted two-hour morning television block.
EPISODE DESCRIPTION
In an Earth Day-themed episode, Sid wants to know what makes dirt so dirty. At school, Sid and his friends discover that dirt is really important to the Earth because it helps things grow, and it’s also filled with tiny rocks, pieces of leaves, and even living things like bugs and worms!
MY REVIEW
Sid the Science Kid is one of our family’s favorite cartoons. I love how it focuses on helping children understand the world around them. This show is aimed at kids 3 yrs to 6 yrs old and is presented in a fun way that really keeps my girls attention.
In “The Dirt on Dirt”, Sid and his class finds out what dirt is really made of. This was particularly interesting to us because it’s something that we’ve never really thought about. It helped Girlie Girl understand the cycle of plant life and how things grow. It was the perfect episode for Earth Day!

Honestly, we don’t have any plans for earthday. I am thinking that perhaps we will go outside and work on our garden. It needs to be cleaned of leaves and debris as well as cleared of weeds. I also have a couple of Easter plants that need to be planted there.

We don’t recognize “Earth Day”. That always seems to me like the equivalent of worshipping a pagan god like “Mother Nature” instead of “God” who has already told us of the demise of the world and in whom we put our trust. The earth will be here, alive and well, long after mankind is gone.
We’ll be taking the kids to clean up our local beach.
We will be planting trees on earth day. Thanks for the chance to win!

We don’t have plans as a family for Earthday as it’s still too cold here to plant a garden (hopefully a month from now we can do that to celebrate EarthDay later). At my son’s preschool, however, they have plans to do a safe litter pickup in the neighbourhood.
