Product Description:

R.W. Knudsen Family brand has partnered with the Berenstain Bears for the launch of Sensible Sippers Organic Juice Boxes. The Sensible Sippers are 100% certified organic and come in a variety of fun flavors:

  • Fruit Punch
    Banana
    Apple
    Mixed Berry

Knudsen - sippersMy Review:

Thanks to R.W. Knudsen Family, I received Apple and Mixed Berry Sensible Sippers to try out. Of course, they were an immediate hit with my little one - she easily recognized Mama Bear (apple) and Sister Bear (mixed berry) from the Berenstain Bears. Anything having to do with The Berenstain Bears has to be great!

Just like most juice boxes, these are extremely convenient for travel or school lunches. The boxes are sturdy and have a completely sealed straw attached. The flavors are great, and I’m looking forward to trying out the Banana flavor in the future - sounds yummy!

Kids always love juice boxes, but I was impressed as a parent. While my little one doesn’t need school lunches yet, this review had me thinking of what I would pack in her lunch. Here’s what I really loved about Sensible Sippers:

100% certified organic - we prefer organic produce, so this is a huge factor for me

Sensible Sippers are 50% juice and 50% water
(Funny story - My little one has just turned 2 and we are starting to drink juice. I’ve always heard that you should dilute the juice. So when I got the Sensible Sippers, I diluted our first one in a cup. HaHa It didn’t taste quite right - that’s because they’ve already diluted it for us.)

No added sugar, artificial flavors or preservatives

40% less calories than regular juice boxes

4.23 oz juice box - perfect size

Try them out this fall in lunch boxes or just at home to have while playing outside. Make it an even sweeter deal by printing off a $1.00 coupon off an 8-pk of Sensible Sippers. Coupon expires 9/30/09

Baby Smarts

As parents, we know that babies learn so much in their first year of life….and we are there to help them along the way.   I was just given the opportunity to review a new book, Baby Smarts: Games for Playing and Learning, that will help parents have fun with their little ones during this special first year, while encouraging necessary development at the same time.

Baby SmartsBook Description:

Baby Smarts is filled with developmental games based on the latest brain research. The book is divided into 4 chapters, each representing a 3-month period in a baby’s first year. Each activity helps develop and reinforce the skills babies need in order to reach typical developmental milestones.

My Review:

I would have loved this book when I was pregnant. I had sooo many books on my nightstand…..some helpful, some not. This book would have been practical. Many books out there talk about developmental milestones…. what your child should be doing at 6 months. I never came across one, until now, that gave you pages of games and activities along with the list, to help your child reach those milestones.

I remember trying to get creative on my own figuring out ways to get my daughter to do certain things physically……she especially  hated tummy time, but I knew it was important since she slept on her back. This book would have been sooo helpful and I am sure would be a lifesaver to other parents  who can at times be so sleep-deprived. Oh, I remember those days well.

The best part is that the activities in the book require NO expensive gadgets or toys. It reminds us that yes, toys are always fun, but they are not necessary for a healthy, developed child. Parents can get creative with pots and pans, twigs, cereal, hats and wooden spoons.

While some of the activities are simple things that a parent might already be inclined to do, the real benefit of the book is having it all in one place, according to age.

A great idea for any expectant couple!

Hawaiian Tropic - 2009 Suncare Line

When I think of Hawaiian Tropic, I think of tanning oils and dark tans, so I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Hawaiian Tropic has a full line of suncare which includes high SPF products, sunless self tanning cremes, and even a baby & kids line.

Product Description:

Since 1969, Hawaiian Tropic Sun Care has been that brand that offers genuine luxurious, exotic sun care products that you can indulge in.

Each and every Hawaiian Tropic formula is infused with an exotic blend of natural flora and fruit extracts. Precious Island moisturizers like plumeria, mango, guava, passion flower and taro root offer unique anti-oxidant benefits and contribute to the Hawaiian Mix that is a key part of many Hawaiian Tropic products.

Hawaiian TropicsMy Review:

Thanks to Hawaiian Tropic, I was able to try out several of the new products in their 2009 suncare line. As I started looking at Hawaiian Tropic as a company, I was really impressed by all they had to offer. They have products that really do meet the needs of everyone.

While Hawaiian Tropic does have part of their suncare line devoted to tanning oils with lower SPF’s, the majority of their products showcase the importance of protection against the sun. The new Ozone Ultimate Continuous Spray Sunscreen, for example, has an SPF 80, and both the Baby Faces and Kids Sunblock have SPF 60+.

I was able to try out both the new Oil Free Sensitive Skin Continuous Spray Lotion (SPF 50) and the Island Radiance Medium-Dark Self Tanner. But I must confess to a new favorite - Hawaiian Tropic’s After Sun Body Butter.

Containing shea, cocoa and mango butter, the After Sun Body Butter is my new must-have for anyone who loves body butters. It’s not just for when you come in after the sun. It’s not just for hydrating skin to maintain a tan. It’s for anytime. You don’t even have to go near the outdoors to love this product. I’ve been using it daily since I received it, and find that it’s a luxurious treat after a bath or shower……perfect on tired feet.

What’s more is that you’ll find the Hawaiian Tropic After Sun Body Butter at most stores for less than $7.00. I’ve even found a $2.00 coupon to make it a sweeter deal. You can use the coupon on any Hawaiian product 3oz or larger (excluding trial size, lip and stick).

Hawaiian Tropic has  a new fan!

With a long weekend to look forward to, I knew I’d pack the new book, Four Wives in my suitcase.

Book Description:

Four Wives is the first novel for Wendy Walker, a former litigator turned stay at home mom…….someone whom I could definitely relate to.  The book focuses on four wives in wealthy suburb, each dealing with their own issues.

four wivesMy Review:

I love a good summer book - one you can finish during a long weekend.  Four Wives is perfect to grab for a weekend getaway or just hanging out by the pool.

While the setting of the story is in an extremely wealthy suburb, the issues faced by each character could happen just about anywhere.  I found myself drawn to one character yet despising another.  Overall, the point is well made that you never know what is going on in other people’s lives, even if they are your closest friends.  Secrets are hidden.  Lies are told.  People let you see what they want you to see and nobody has a perfect life.

All this makes for an intriguing book about these suburban friends - betrayal, abuse, family issues, and love.  I look forward to what Wendy Walker will bring us later this year with her next book, Social Lives.

Today’s Farm Freeze Dried Fruit Snacks

I am grateful that my toddler LOVES fruit and of course I love all the health benefits associated with all types of fruit.  BUT………I don’t eat as much fruit as I should (confession).  So I was really interested in learning more about Today’s Farm Freeze-Dried Fruit Snacks.

justus foods productProduct Description:

Justus Foods currently makes 4 varieties of freeze-dried fruits in single-serving packages.  Justus Foods tells us that these are low-calorie, fat-free, cholesterol-free, and have no preservatives.  They are 100% FRUIT.

Apple Cinnamon
Strawberry
Peach
Pineapple

My Review:

justus foods logoMy only experience with freeze-dried fruits was when my little one had started eating solid foods (some of those baby snacks were freeze-dried). This time, the whole familywas able to enjoy them. My little one loved the peach, my husband loved the apple-cinnamon, and I preferred the strawberry. The pineapple had a little different texture, so was a bit more difficult for my 22 month old to eat.

Convenience is what comes to mind first. The packages are the size of potato chip bags and so easy to fit into my husband’s lunch, diaper bag, or your child’s lunch. Nutrition without the mess or spoilage. As a parent, I am sold. These are 100% fruit (nothing added). You look at “Ingredients” on the bag and all it says is “Freeze Dried Strawberries”. That is reassuring. No preservatives, no artificial colors……..just FRUIT.
