valentines-day-goody-swap-banner.jpg

I remember a time when I used to get candy, flowers, a beautiful card and a nice romantic dinner on Valentine’s Day.

Now it’s a school made card from Girlie Girl and take out from Big City Diner. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining. I love my special made card and Big City Diner has the best guava baby back ribs in the world! Yum!

This year I thought I’d like to do something fun and hopefully you’ll all join me. How about a Valentine’s Day Goody Swap? I was going to make it a candy swap but thought I’d broaden the options.

Here’s how it works:

  • If you’d like to participate, just add your link to the Mr. Linky below. You have until January 31st to sign-up.
  • You will be sending your package to the person next in line. For example, I will sign up first and send my package to the 2nd person who signs up, the 2nd person will send to the 3rd, and so on. The last person will send a package to me. Got it?
  • In order to try and get to know each other better, I have posted a questionnaire in hopes we learn a little more about you. You can post your answers on your blog or in comments.
  • It is your responsibility to contact your recepient to obtain their mailing address. Use this opportunity to meet a new blogger and possibly make a new friend!
  • Beginning February 1st, you may start mailing out your goody packages. Please try to get them to their receivers before February 14th.
  • You should try to spend somewhere between $8 – $10, not including shipping charges.
  • As an added incentive, the person who refers the most people to join this event will receive a box of chocolate covered macadamia nut shortbread cookies from me. Make sure they mention your name!
  • Once you’ve received your goodies, don’t forget to take pictures so we can all see what you got!
  • Have Fun!

Questionnaire:

  • What is your idea of a romantic Valentine’s Day? see above
  • In reality, what is your Valentine’s Day really like? see above
  • If you could have a lifetime supply of your favorite sweet indulgence, what would it be? recess peanut butter cups, malted milk balls or homemade chocolate chip cookies. yum!
  • Is there any sweet treat you absolutely do not like? chocolate covered cherries!
  • If you fell into a pool of chocolate, how would you get out? call all my friends to jump in and help me eat my way out!

Any questions? Please feel free to email me. Feel free to steal this banner or the button located in the sidebar.

Update: As an added bonus, the person who refers the most participants will also receive a custom wallpaper for your computer designed by the talented Mert of Almost Somewhat Positive. Check out the beautiful ones that she made for me!

What is your idea of a romantic Valentine’s Day? – probably similar to a Day Spa experience only just me & DH giving each other the massages & stuff.

In reality, what is your Valentine’s Day really like? Just a normal Wednesday with possibly some gifts from DD & DH…gotta remember to tell DH to NOT get me a card (he is so terrible at picking out a card!)

If you could have a lifetime supply of your favorite sweet indulgence, what would it be? Caramel! Turtles or Twix! ;D

Is there any sweet treat you absolutely do not like? stuff with Peanut butter! Blech!

If you fell into a pool of chocolate, how would you get out? Why? ;)

  2. meredith says:

    Cool deal! Thanks, LG!!!

  3. meredith says:

Good thing if I answered the questionnaire, huh?

    Questionnaire:

What is your idea of a romantic Valentine’s Day? Really, just receiving a nice bouquet of flowers … ones that are “thought out” and not just picked up at a local grocery store. And chocolate. I never turn it down.

In reality, what is your Valentine’s Day really like?
Nothing like the above. I am lucky to get a handmade card from the kids.

If you could have a lifetime supply of your favorite sweet indulgence, what would it be? Hmmmm…. chocolate of any kind, except nothing with nuts. Not a fan of chocolate and nuts.

Is there any sweet treat you absolutely do not like? See above … chocolate with nuts, and nothing with coconut.

If you fell into a pool of chocolate, how would you get out? Dude… don’t tease me!

  4. This sounds like fun. I wrote a post in my Blog about it.

Did I tell you that you’re very creative Kailani?!

  6. 1. My idea of a romantic Valentine’s Day is…hmm…it’s been so long since I had one, I don’t remember it! Sad, isn’t it? I think what would be really nice is an indoor picnic with no kids around.

    2. My reality Valentine’s Day is homemade cards from my kids, kisses from my kids, and maybe an Happy Valentine’s Day from my husband (if he remembers it).

    3. A lifetime supply of my favorite sweet indulgence would be Droste Extra Rich Milk Chocolate Pastilles. Those or English toffee.

    Lifetime supply–pink icing

    Sweet treat I don’t like–conversation hearts. Yucky!

-What is your idea of a romantic Valentine’s Day? A night out with my sweetie. We don’t have to go anywhere expensive… just away from the house. I would love to go back to the shore for Valentine’s, get a bottle of wine or champagne, take out from “The Grill,” and cuddle at home.

-If you could have a lifetime supply of your favorite sweet indulgence, what would it be? Chocolate, of course…. is there anything else?

-Is there any sweet treat you absolutely do not like? I don’t like coconut at all. And, jelly beans, gummy worms, anything with that “chewy” texture.

I like this idea of a Valentines Day Swap. Very Cool! Here are my answers…

    * What is your idea of a romantic Valentine’s Day?
It would start with my making breakfast in bed for someone special…then I would draw her a bath with rose petals floating in the fragrant water. Next there would be a Valentines Day Lunch and then a movie, followed by a lovely walk. After the walk we would have dinner by candlelight…a long slow dinner…while listening to music…then…ahh…the rest is private…
    * In reality, what is your Valentine’s Day really like?
Sometimes I have to perform music, sometimes I try to make it as close as possible to the above answer.
    * If you could have a lifetime supply of your favorite sweet indulgence, what would it be?
    Cherry Cordials…
    * Is there any sweet treat you absolutely do not like?
Ice Cream with cake together in the same dish…yuck!
    * If you fell into a pool of chocolate, how would you get out?
    I guess I wouldn’t…I can’t swim!

** I guess drowning in chocolate is not a bad way to go! LOL!

  44. Marina says:

What is your idea of a romantic Valentine’s Day?

I think a romantic Valentine’s Day would be having a fantastic dinner at a fancy restaurant and then heading off to a Broadway show. When the show is over, my date and I stroll off to a nearby park and discuss philosophy, poetry, and other intellectual musings.

In reality, what is your Valentine’s Day really like?

My Valentine’s Day has been everything under the sun. I have gone to Cirque du Soleil for V-day. I have also had a fine cooked meal at home with great wine and great company. I have even sat at home watching lovey-dovey movies while eating exorbitant amounts of chocolate. I’m not picky so I think that works for me when it comes to V-day!

If you could have a lifetime supply of your favorite sweet indulgence, what would it be?

Oregon Chai would be great! Godiva chocolates, especially the chocolate covered brownies. Godiva cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory. Homemade chocolate-chip cookies. I don’t know. I have so many indulgences!

Is there any sweet treat you absolutely do not like?

I’m not big on key-lime pie. I don’t like lemon meringue either. I despise jellybeans and candy corn. I also don’t like hard cinnamon candies. Ick.

If you fell into a pool of chocolate, how would you get out?

Would I really need to get out? I would eat my way out. There’s no doubt. And when other women would be appalled at my sheer eating tenacity, I would laugh and say, “These curves demand chocolate, ladies!”

  45. tiggerprr says:

You should just ban me from using Mr. Linky on your site! I did it again with the Valentine slot. :( Please don’t hate me! I should not blog before I’ve had a whole serving of caffeine. :/
