On June 11th, 2008, the people of Hawaii will gather to honor King Kamehameha I, the chief who united the Hawaiian Islands in 1795.

I have a photo of myself standing at the King Kamehameha statue from 1975. Were you even born yet?!? I don’t think he’s all dressed up in my photo though.

I have fond memories of seeing many of the King Kamehameha items in Hawaii when I went as a child. Hopefully I will get back in the future.
