WordSearch! by Goliath Games (Giveaway)
Our favorite kind of board games are word-type games – Scrabble, Scattergories, Boggle. These games really make you think outside the box and helps to build my girls’ vocabulary knowledge. However, now we have a new favorite word game called WordSearch! thanks to Goliath Games.
WordSearch (also known as WordQuest) is a game that is played on an exquisitely constructed board that rotates to show new words to search for. The first player to find the word marks it with their colored tiles. This game is fast-paced and incredibly fun. It also has some twists and turns where you can remove words found by your competitors. the game includes 20 different word search puzzles and is good for years of fun.
We had the opportunity to play WordSearch for ourselves and had a blast! There are various word puzzles to play all dealing with a specific topic – animals, cities, colors, clothing, etc. Just place the word wheel into to the base, put the transparent cover on top of it and seal with the green ring. That’s it!
There’s an opening on the side of the board that will reveal the word that you’re looking for. The first person to find it grabs the “Totem” and covers their word with their transparent colored chips. Note: the Totem is found secured under the board game. We thought ours was missing when we couldn’t find it with among the other game pieces.
The cool thing about this game is that you never know who will end until the very end. It may look like there’s more of one person’s color on the board but that can change quickly. If you find a word that has letters that intersects with an opponent’s word you can change those letters to your color. If this causes your opponent’s word to now be incomplete, you can remove all of his letters on that particular incomplete word.
When all the words have been found or someone runs out of colored chips, the game ends. The person who has the most chips on the board wins!
When we first started playing we found that it was pretty easy to find the hidden words. However, as the game progressed it got harder and harder because all the different colored chips got a little distracting. This definitely added more of a challenge to the game play and required much more concentration.
We had a lot of fun playing WordSearch and will be playing it again and again during our family game nights.
Purchase WordSearch at Amazon.com for $20.49.
WIN IT!
