WalMart Game Time Snacks for Eight ($50 WalMart Gift Card Giveaway)
This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to commentor #257: Carol!

Super Bowl Sunday is almost here! I’m not a big fan of the game but I love watching all the festivities and hilarious commericals! It’s also a great way to get family and friends together and just enjoy each other’s company. However, sometimes putting together the menu can get pretty expensive so WalMart has come up with their Game Time Snacks for Eight for as little as $44!
So what’s in this great value pack? Check this out . . . one package of Oscar Mayer Hot Dogs, one package of Johnsonville Bratwursts, two packages of Great Value Hot Dog Buns, two boxes of T.G.I Friday’s Frozen Appetizers, one Hormel Supreme Party Tray, a 12″ Chocolate Chunk cookie and two boxes of Nabisco Wheat Thins or Triscuit Crackers. With all this great food, you’ll definitely have all your neighbors knocking on your door at game time.
In addition, WalMart has some great deals on electronics to make sure you’re ready for the big kick-off. Wouldn’t this be a great time to get that flat screen HDTV you’ve been
wishing for? WalMart can even come to your home and hook it up for you! They have installation packages starting at only $99.
So to help you get into the football spirit, stop by WalMart and check out all their great items that’s sure to make your Super Bowl party a big hit. And while you’re there, you’ll also find valuable tips on how to plan your party including some tasty recipes. Yum!
Enjoy the game!

To feed a big crowd I use my crockpot to make a big batch of something, like chili. I make a dish called wet shoes, curley fries, topped with lots of chili, add a lot of shredded cheddar cheese on top of that, then sour cream on top and last but not least scallians. This is great and fills them up…!! joshmilky@aol.com

My money saving tip to feed a crowd would be to prepare everything myself. Rather than buy a huge sandwich tray, I will make my own little sandwiches, things like that.
I save money by buying larger amounts of things that cost less (e.g. pasta or frozen pizza) and smaller amounts of things like fruit or expensive drinks. Also, buying things on sale or having people bring a dish to share help, too!

I do big plates of things like nachos in the oven and chili in the crockpot to feed a crowd. Everybody can share and mingle, and the components for things like nachos and chili are relatively inexpensive.
Stretch your budget by including more ingredients in your meat dishes. Instead of bbq wings, serve a hot layered chicken dish with beans, rice, vegetables, cheese and sauce that can be served on buns, tortillas, or as a chip dip. Asking people to bring a dish to share can cut down on cost, too.

Plan your menu around store sale grocery items that are paired up with coupons. This may mean you have to be a bit creative, but it will save
you money in the long run. Plus you’ll use less meat, if you cut up items
like sausages into pieces and cover them with dough and then cook them.
The dough will make them more filling. So you might just have an appetizer meal, instead of a big sit down meal, but no one will really notice when the
games on anyways, and most men probably really prefer to eat this way
anyways.

Plan your menu according to what’s on sale, and the coupons you have! Thanks!
When I’m feeding a crowd, I make one main dish and several side dishes. My main dish will be based on something I got on sale…for example, remember how cheap turkeys were at Thanksgiving? I bought extra so it’ll cost me pennies to serve turkey chili or turkey sliders at a large gathering.

There are so many ways to buy a great assortment of good tasting and filling company snack foods without spending a lot of money. Of course coupons and sales always help and you can make do with just about anything. Any type of frozen pizzas can turn into finger food with some creative cutting. Chili cheese fries are always a big hit at game time and even taste great using less expensive store brand chili and cheese. Refried Beans are a great way to make inexpensive dips for tortillas chips with just a few extra ingredients like Great Value Salsa and shredded cheese with dollops of sour cream and you won’t have the expense or hassle of ground beef. But, if you have to have the meat, make it a Manwich night or a store brand version. LOL A little goes a long way and the guys will love it. Just add some chips and move out of the way. It amazes me how much guys love that stuff. LOL Of course if you are in a crunch, let Walmart’s Deli/Bakery do the catering. They have inexpensive finger foods, chicken wings, potato wedges, chicken fingers and a large selection of salads to choose from.

buy in bulk to feed a crowd, it makes sense lots of people = lots of food.
By planning ahead and getting the non-perishables into your pantry early using coupons and sale info, that will cut both cost and time needed. Stick with simple foods that do not require a great deal of preparatin–remember that time is money as well.
I purchase what is on sale, we sometimes go to 4 different stores in one week (they are all on the same street) and we use coupons all the time. We shop at Walmart for our paper goods, staples, and personal items as they are ALWAYS cheaper than the other stores. I usually save, on average, 30-60% on my weekly shopping.

My money saving tips are:
Stock up when stuff is on sale. We always use Tostidos Scoops for various dips so we ALWAYS have them in the house. When we see them on sale for a great price and we have coupons we stock up.
We also like to make chicken wing dip. Usually we will buy whatever chicken is on sale (either breasts or thighs) and shred it. Then we buy whatever shredded cheese is on sale and we have a coupon for. We arent brand loyal at all (other than FRANKS HOT SAUCE) so we have no problem buying a store brand!
Buy in bulk from a warehouse club and/or use coupons when buying items at the grocery store
I like to make chili for a crowd. Use lots of beans and just a little meat for flavor and you get a delicious dish for a small amount of money. Bake cornbread or just buy french bread which is cheap to eat with it.
My money saving tip is get stuff on sale and use coupons. Also ask people to bring a dish to pass as well. Make sure you don’t get to carried away and make to much food.

To save on costs I use lots of generic dips and chips (taking them out of their containers and using pretty bowls) and cut raw veggies like celery and carrots, topped off by something substantial that I’ve made, like chili for everyone!
When shopping we shop the lower shelves – the eye level ones tend to be more expensive. If you’re feeding a crowd you can get the items marked down because they’re about to expire – it won’t be sitting on a shelf – and finally – can you say potluck?

I match manufacturer’s coupons with store sales to save money and feed the crowd.
have a potluck! failing that, make chili
I buy in bulk.
When I feed a crowd, I try to make my own veggies tray instead of purchasing. It’s easy to do the day before and store in tupperware or baggies, then arrange on a tray before the party.

buy a lot of the cheap stuff, if it’s for something like a superbowl party the guests either won’t care if it’s cheap or they won’t notice!
My money saving tip: plan ahead so you can stock up when there’s a sale/you have coupons. If you bought it for cheap, you can cook it for cheap!
Stock up ahead… if the party/game is a month away, buy the stuff now so you don’t have to worry about it later!

I love to make a big pot of chili, especially for Superbowl. It’s cheap, filling and almost everyone likes it. I put out fixings so they can dress it up any way they like, ie. I like mine with shredded cheese, tortilla chips and a little sour cream, hubbie has to have cheese and crushed saltines, other sides include diced scallions, chopped jalapenos, corn bread, etc.

When the kids have a party I always make a six foot sub. I buy 3 large french loaves of bread and layer meat, cheese, lots of veggies. tip- save on the cost of meats by visiting your grocers eat case and watching for reduced specials that are day old meats, the meats are still good but you can get it at a fraction of the cost.

I think spaghetti, meatballs, and salad is inexpensive for a crowd.
It may sound rude, but filling people up on appetizers really saves money, especially chips and dip. I know I’ve spoiled my appetite on guacamole and onion dip on several occasions.
I plan my menu ahead of time and then check the ads and coupons to get the best deals. I will sometimes plan my menu around what is on sale!
Stockpile foods ahead of time so you can buy at the very best price. Don’t try to use 50 ingredients if 12 will do just as well.
my ideas run from planning early to get the best prices on things, use coupons, and keep the menu simple, a great stew, a few finger foods, like salsa and chips(fry your own from tortilla, 1 pkg of tortillas will give you about 70 chips) miniature cupcakes, just a bitefull is all anyone usually wants…and how about fresh fruit and veggies with a dip you make(save a lot instead of buying a ready made tray) same with deli , you will save a lot and everyone will be impressed.
plan ahead and buy in bulk

One way we save money when feeding a crowd is to have the crowd bring some of the ingredients along! My money saving tip for cooking for a crowd is to keep it simple, research sale ads for grocery store specials and be creative. This year for super bowl we actually did indeed purchase most of our food for our party at WalMart. We purchased mini hot dogs for pigs in blankets, we purchased 4 lbs of hamburg for meatballs, and 6 frozen pizzas. Our guests brought things like chip and dip, soda, wine, beer, cheese, crackers. I provided the main appetizers, they brought the little dips, etc. and we just nibbled. Keeping it simple and making food that a wide range of people generally enjoy eating is key to saving money and having a successful party!

Look for ways to make fancy foods cheaply and simply. For example, my mom makes a seafood salad by mixing bagged coleslaw with one container of Sam’s Club seafood salad, a little coleslaw dressing, and she sometimes adds a few small shrimp or some extra crab meat. It’s easy and fast to make, serves a bunch of people, and seems like it took a lot more work than it did.
