As you all know, my family is a big fan of Veggie Tales and we’re always thrilled when a new DVD becomes available. We were especially excited about Veggie Tales: Pistachio The Little Boy That Woodn’t since my girls have always loved the story of Pinocchio.
DVD DESCRIPTION
Once upon a time in the small town of Bologna-Salami , there lived a lonely toymaker named Gelato and his assistant Cricket. Gelato had no children of his own, so one day he decided to carve a little boy out of wood. Imagine Gelato’s surprise when he learned this little boy could walk…and talk…and definitely had a mind of his own! When Pistachio tries to do things his way, he lands in a “whale†of a situation! Will he decide to listen to the wisdom of a loving father in time to save his whole family from becoming fish food? Find out in this all-new adventure with a lesson about the importance of family and learning to listen.
OUR REVIEW
Our family knows the story of Pinocchio very well so this storyline was very familiar to us. However, Big Idea was able to take this classic tale and put their own little “Veggie Tales” spin on it making it even more enjoyable. My kids were glued to the television set except for the times they were dancing around to the catchy songs.
Of course, I loved the message behind the story – that children should listen to their parents. Kacie is getting to the age where she thinks she knows what’s best for her even though she’s only 8 years old. And as much as I try to foster an environment where she can make her own decisions, I’m still in the background trying to guide her in the right direction. I want her to know that if she has any doubts, it’s always best to listen to her parents. Pistachio conveys this message without sounding like a lecture.
This is defintely a movie we’ll be watching again and again!
