Congratulations!

By now I’m sure you’ve all seen the funny new Spendervention commercials on television. It’s the one where a group of friends get together to convince their buddy that they’re spending too much money at designer boutiques when they could be getting the same or comparable items at a much lesser cost if they only shopped at TJ Maxx or Marshalls.

According to TJ Maxx & Mashalls, here are 5 reasons why off-price is the way to shop:

  1. Buying Power – Our merchandise strategy can be summed up in two words – opportunistic buying. While other retailers buy merchandise several times a year, our buyers travel to market over forty weeks a year, sourcing from 10,000 vendors in 60 countries. These wide and frequent market trips allow us to buy closer to need and be smarter about trends. Also, because we are making deals closer to need, we are in a good position to negotiate a better price with vendors, and pass those savings along to our customers.
  2. Unbelievable Savings – Today more than ever our buyers can negotiate even better prices with vendors due to many factors: department stores planning their inventories much lower, overbuying and then canceling orders, or designers overproducing. All these things allow us to deliver the same merchandise sold in department stores, at the same time, at much lower prices to our customers.
  3. Product Quality – At T.J. Maxx and Marshalls our values extend to the important partnerships we have with our vendors. The vast majority of our merchandise is sourced directly from top designers and manufacturers. Over 95% of merchandise at T.J Maxx and Marshalls is the same first quality items that you would find at a department or specialty store at the same time.
  4. Fresh Merchandise – While department stores only receive new merchandise seasonally, our stores receive more than 10,000 new items each week. When you shop at T.J. Maxx and Marshalls, you’re bound to find a new, differentiated selection of merchandise with every shopping experience.
  5. No Sale, Ever – Our reputation has been built on offering our customers an ever-changing selection of brand name family apparel at great values every day. We know customers are bombarded with “sales” and savings messages all the time. We try to keep it simple for them by offering great values every day. There is no need to wait for a sale or clip coupons.

So if you’re looking for great items at an affordable price, check out TJ Maxx & Marshalls. Your wallet will thank you!

I would love to take my sister on a spendervation. She is 7 months pregnant and very miserable. She works full time and has three kids at home. She is very tired and worn out, so she could use a little shopping cure.

I took my sister on a shopping trip to Marhsall’s and TJMaxx and showed here the same skin care products she had been buying. She was convinced when she saw the prices at Marshall’s and TJMaxx were as little as 1/4 what she had been spending.

My daughter and I used to watch a show called The Look for Less and from that we would cut out ‘The Look’ we wanted and go to TJ Maxx and Marshalls so that we could find the pieces to complete the outfits we were looking for at a reasonable price. We LOVE both stores!

I’ve shopped at Marshalls and TJ Maxx for years and have gotten the most amazing bargains on quality items! Love it when I give a gift to someone, and the look on their face is one of awe because I know that they think I spent a fortune on it! The most fun I ever had was when my daughter was expecting each of my granddaughters. I had the most fun going on complete shopping sprees for baby clothing and toys, getting the most beautiful items. Would love to win this, because now the girls are 2 and 6 and I’d just bring them shopping with me and let them choose some pretty things for themselves!

My Spendervention story is easy and happens all the time. It consists of me telling my BFF that she is spending too much on shoes – that girl has more shoes than she knows what to do with!

Some people think I need a spendervention but I say as long as I am getting the nicest things at the best price… well if it wasn’t for people like me who are still shopping, the economy would be in way worse trouble.

My spendvention is my friend Michelle would go out and spend lots of money at high end stores and one time I was wearing a shirt that she had and she commented on how expensive it was and I told her not really I got it at Tj Maxx for like 10 bucks when she paid 40 dollars for hers.

I spend most of my time running a spendervation campaign to curb my mom’s overspending in. She doesn’t think it’s shopping unless you go to the highest priced mall in town.

I’ve been slowly bringing her around.

My sister’s in desperate need of a spendervention, especially now that she’s moved out of my parents’ house and still tries to squeeze her budget to afford high-end labels and accessories. Her obsession with brands, and her aversion to terrific discount stores like TJ Maxx and Marshall’s, has gotten so out of hand, that my parents had to stop her credit cards (which they were paying for), which was a rather extreme spendervention! I think a gentler way to nudge her into more frugal fashion shopping would be to give her a gift card to one of these stores — so if I’m not lucky enough to win this time, I think I’ll suggest to my parents that they present her with one as a peace offering!

My Spendervention moments often come when I talk to others in my office who also travel frequently. I pay for a lot of my vacations with frequent flyer (or stayer, or driver) points, where my co-workers don’t bother. That can get expensive.

I often buy my shoes at TJ Maxx and get compliments on them all the time. Those who ask where I got them expect it is at a department store–as that is where these brands are sold. I tell them I can usually get double the shoe haul if I spend my money at TJs. They need a spendervention.
