Even though President’s Day is behind us, you still have the opportunity to learn more about these great leaders thanks to the History Channel’s The Presidents 3-disc DVD set.
This ambitious, 8-part series traces the history of America’s highest office from the Revolution to the 2004 campaign.
- Visit historic sites nationwide and examine rare presidential artifacts.
- A panoramic look at the personalities who have occupied the Oval Office.
- Based on the acclaimed book “To the Best of My Ability.”
The office is one of the hallmarks of the American experiment, open to any native-born citizen over the age of 35. The men who have inhabited it have been heroes and villains, visionaries and scoundrels, towering figures and seeming afterthoughts.
The Presidents is an unprecedented eight-part survey of the personal lives and legacies of the remarkable men who have presided over the Oval Office. Â From George Washington to George W. Bush, The Presidents gathers together vivid
snapshots of the 43 Commanders in Chief who have guided America throughout its history to 2008 — their powerful personalities, their weaknesses, and their major achievements or historical insignificance.  Based on the book To the Best of My Ability, edited by Pulitzer Prize-winner James McPherson, The Presidents features rare and unseen photographs  and footage, as well as unexpected insights and trivia from journalists, scholars, and politicians.
Featured guests include Walter Cronkite, David Brinkley, Wesley Clark, Bob Dole and former president Jimmy Carter. Viewed within the changing contexts of each administration, the Presidency has never seemed more compelling and human.

Jimmy Carter! He’s the peanut man!
My favorite president was George W Bush…we never realized how good we had it until Obama took over and the country fell apart.
My favorite is Reagan because he’s the first President I remember the elections for.
Regardless of controversy surrounding the presidents at any time, my favorite is the one currently leading our country, so right now it would be Obama. I think it’s important to support your leader, even if you don’t always agree with him/her.

Lincoln he was honest, humble, and did great things for this country. Maybe we should go back to the basics!!
Thomas Jefferson, he formed this country the most of any President!
I don’t think I know enough about the presidents to have a favorite, but I would like to learn more about them. Thanks for the contest.
I will say Gerald Ford. I don’t think he received proper recognition for the hard work he did. I am looking forward to seeing this program.
My favorite was JFK – very fascinating man!
Lincoln, JFK and FDR all come to mind immediately. But two President who I feel somewhat ambiviant about deserve some rarely heard praise:
LBJ for his role in getting the Civil Rights Act (bill) passed and Eisenhower for warning about the dangers of the Military Industrial Complex – which tragically was ignored…

Probably not the most original answer, but my favorite president has always been FDR, mostly for his vision, leadership during the country’s toughest years, willingness to experiment with new ideas, and his sheer power of inspiration. Thanks for the chance to win this great DVD set!

I’m too young to have known Jimmy Carter as a president but his work post-Presidency is wonderful regarding Habitat for Humanity! I have great respect for him for that.
I liked Reagan’s conservative values.
