Even though President’s Day is behind us, you still have the opportunity to learn more about these great leaders thanks to the History Channel’s The Presidents 3-disc DVD set.
This ambitious, 8-part series traces the history of America’s highest office from the Revolution to the 2004 campaign.
- Visit historic sites nationwide and examine rare presidential artifacts.
- A panoramic look at the personalities who have occupied the Oval Office.
- Based on the acclaimed book “To the Best of My Ability.”
The office is one of the hallmarks of the American experiment, open to any native-born citizen over the age of 35. The men who have inhabited it have been heroes and villains, visionaries and scoundrels, towering figures and seeming afterthoughts.
The Presidents is an unprecedented eight-part survey of the personal lives and legacies of the remarkable men who have presided over the Oval Office. Â From George Washington to George W. Bush, The Presidents gathers together vivid
snapshots of the 43 Commanders in Chief who have guided America throughout its history to 2008 — their powerful personalities, their weaknesses, and their major achievements or historical insignificance.  Based on the book To the Best of My Ability, edited by Pulitzer Prize-winner James McPherson, The Presidents features rare and unseen photographs  and footage, as well as unexpected insights and trivia from journalists, scholars, and politicians.
Featured guests include Walter Cronkite, David Brinkley, Wesley Clark, Bob Dole and former president Jimmy Carter. Viewed within the changing contexts of each administration, the Presidency has never seemed more compelling and human.

Abraham Lincoln is my favorite president because he came from a humble childhood (definitely wasn’t born with a silver spoon) and did a lot of good things for the people– fought for freedom for African Americans.

I have to say that I honestly don’t have a favorite because I don’t really know enough about what each president has done. History was not my favorite in school so I zoned out a lot – however as an adult, I love watching things on The History Channel now – go figure!
If I had to pick one I would say President Obama because I love that his office seems to finally be jumping into tech and using it to reach the masses!
